Betting Questions

straight up, meaning you bet straight up on this team or that team to win. that term is not used often in betting for combat sports. you see it sometimes for sports like football where its most common to bet the spread rather than on purely the winner

noob q here. How do you setup alerts on BM and 5d ? I seem to always miss openers.

i've yet to find a good way to get prop alerts. feels like a crapshoot.

I've never placed a bet in my life, have no idea wtf odds mean really, i just want to bet on Holly, Help me obi-wan! (mainly scared of shady internet sites)
so like what site should i use? I actually do business with paypal and skrill, so i can actually fund it that way, or if theres a sherbro guide to betting for noobs, i'll read up on that as well, i just don't trust other internet betting sites, you know.

usa-nj if that matters, i know i could travel to mohegan or the broadwalk, but I haven't even been inside a Casino for more than 5minutes!

the websites available depend on your country of residence

5dimes.eu is the best one in the states, i can tell you that.

i'm not sure if they accept paypal as a deposit method, though. can anyone confirm/deny this?

as far as "wanting to bet on holly" -- if you don't know what odds mean -- you're off on the wrong foot.

every fight you ever bet, you need to analyze the match-up on your end, decide on the likelihood(s) of the outcomes, and then apply them against the price you're offered.

right now, for example, holly holm is -360 vs miesha on 5dimes. using american moneylines (as opposed to european decimal odds) -- that means you'd need to bet 360 to win 100 on holly. (so if you deposited money into 5dimes, and then risked $360 on her, you'd get back $460 total if she wins, but lose $360 if she loses).

-360 implies that she wins the fight 7 out of 9 times to break even (basically). in other words, if you made this bet on this fight in this spot 9 times and it went 7-2, you'd break even. (cause you'd win 100 7 times and lose 360 twice, so you'd lose $20, which is close to 0 relatively)

so you need her to win the fight a greater % of the time than 7/9, or 77.77%. you need holly to win at LEAST 80% of the time in order to make -360 holm a good bet.

Just to touch on the point of PayPal. They do not deal with anything gambling related besides fantasy sports

How much is on "u"? I see lots of people using the term, but from what i read a unit can vary from person to person - so how can you know if its alot by people betting like 10u? can anyone help?

unit is just whatever your standard betting size is. for me that's $100 so when i say i put .5 units on something to win 10 units it's a $50 bet to win $1000. since everyone's bankroll is different it's just an easy way to have a universal confidence system since a $100/1 unit regular bet for me could be a 10 unit super confident bet for someone else, etc.

Alright thank you so so much for explaining that to me, that makes perfect sense.

it varies from bettor to bettor. it's a way for us to communicate our relative stakes on the fights.

1u from bettor A might be $100
1u from bettor B might be $50

but the idea is that if either of them bet "2 u" it generally means the same thing (because bettor A is working with more available bankroll)

Simple im from Europe and i have no idea how the betting is.

Whenever i watch UFC it says as an example: Conor - 390 and Diaz + 410 ?

I dont understand it. Anyone care to explain?

It basically just means you need to risk $390 on Conor to win $100 (so you would get $490 back) and if you risk $100 on Diaz you'd win $410 (so you would get $510 back).

Thats it? Allways wondred what they ment when watching UFC.

How it works? You pick winnerz then you get PAID, son.

Most sportsbooks doesn't accept deposit from some of the European countries, including mine.

5d does, but the process is a bit too long.

Any good alternatives, fellow Europeans ?

I'm not European, but if you want to bet MMA seriously and 5Dimes will take your action, they are such a good sportsbook for MMA I would jump through whatever hoops they provide to open an account, whether you have to convert some money to USD or Bitcoin just for the purpose of funding it. Depending on your country you may have a few other good options with Euro books too.

Can someone explain round robins to me? This is what I think it is, correct me if I'm wrong

If I do a 10 team RR for $10, it makes 5 parlays of 2 team, Risking $10 on each?

And is it not smart to have my units be 4.2% of my bankroll? I won't be risking multiple units a lot. I have $700 in my account and I'm thinking of making a unit $30. Usually I will risk either 1u($30) or .5u($15). I know everyone's is different but I just want to see what u guys think

Are there sites to absolutely avoid?

And is it possible to use a prepaid Visa card, like one of the Vanilla Visa cards? I've heard that many sites won't take prepaid Visa, unless the card is good for international use, which many are not.

So what would be the best US based betting site? I went to Sportsbook to see their ratings of sites, and have filtered it to be just the US, but I just contacted Sportbet.com, and they said they're in Costa Rica... I'm getting a bit confused...

I don't want to give my credit card to a foreign betting website.... But I want to bet on 196.

I currently have an account with betonline.ag , but it has no cash or anything linked to it.
