Why do people get married? Why are we monogamous?

You could make more money than Farrah Abraham from all the people who would bet against you. Myself included.

I dont even know who that is.

I know the average sherdogger is a 5’4” pencil dick dimwit but im far from average. Im 6’2”, packing, i started college at age 13 and i have two degrees. I own my own business. My wife is a doctor and loves to fuck. What dont you believe?

thats because one or both just let themselves go like modern day developed world fat asses.
That's an awful lot of assumption there mate. That is not always the case.

I still have the same sex drive i had before getting married, my wife's one lowered after having kids but i still get some at least once a week.

Considering all the time we had been together i think its decent, specially after having sex with someone over 1000 times.

If anything its work and kids who will kill it in the end, but then again we need to work and reproduce.

Because our offspring take so long to mature and require so many resources.

Monogamy is our strength. Having an equal partner entirely on-board with everyone of your primary motivations puts you head and shoulders over most of the animal kingdom and all the loners ( ie your 'alpha' males and militant feminists, God you deserve each other).

Monogamous pairs with families are perfect allies for other monogamous pairs with families. They share the same goals and can benefit from economy of scale allowing for greater specialisation. As such it's the basis for all society and our modern luxurious existence.

Largely if you don't fit into this paradigm it's because something is wrong with you. Some are fated to be opportunists hanging around the edges, chancers at best, criminals and rapists at worst.

So yeah. Alphas hey.

Why can't you just raise your kids with your bros?

I'm probably in the minority here, but I like being married with a family. Just feels like it's the right thing to do. I sure wouldn't want to be single again. Once you find the right woman, you won't want to fuck a bunch of bimbos you have nothing in common with. ;)

do you think your personal concept of monogamy is the same as in the past by and large?

women s vagina and a party in their honor.............also jewelry

I think your narrative of hunter-gatherer societies might be off. First, why 50,000 years ago? Agriculture is usually said to have emerged around 10,000 years ago, although there is evidence that it might have happened earlier. Our current modality of marriage and monogamy is a by product of property ownership, which is a by product of settled societies, which is a result of agriculture. In hunter gatherer societies, which are usually nomadic, you wouldn't have any of that. They were far more egalitarian in class and gender, with clear roles for men and women, but those roles were equally important. They also tended to be sexually poly-amorous. It's easy to assume these societies were male dominated since men are naturally stronger, but the role of women were also extremely important. A lot of them if anything, were matriarchal. These societies also had higher infant mortality rates and since the survival of a tribe rested on having healthy babies, female fertility was emphasized greatly, which you can see in their art.

In our modern society, people feel the need to get married to stave off loneliness. We don't have tribes anymore who have our backs until we die so we make arbitrary partnerships and try to force them to last to combat our loneliness. From a practicality stand point, I think marriage is only useful if you intend to have children. Even if you believe in the futile notion of life-long monogamy, you can still be with your partner without a legal agreement to bind you together. But a lot of legal issues would pop up with kids born out of wedlock.

Because I don't want my kids flipping burgers TS my wife puts in so much work teaching and helping with homework.
While I earn a decent living she makes sure my kids have the advantage over your broken home future fast food workers.

Them single mums do produce some good Athletes ill give them that.

It provides a stable environment for a family and generally produces better outcomes. Makes sense that a team would do better than an individual in the game of life.

Why limit your team to just two players?

I guess it depends on what is binding the team together. Marriage is a commitment (a binding), as is putting together a life co-depending on each other. Then add children and then you have biological interest involved as well. So, would a larger team have as much invested in the outcome? Probably not typically.

But in a general sense 'the wider team' can exist in the form of extended family and friends and whatever other support might be around. They just also have their own lives to manage.

Animals that are not monogamous tend to have large litters at one time.

Animals that are monogamous tend to have small liters at one time.

Humans have evolved to be monogamous not due to the "adults" but to protect the offspring.

Likewise, animals that live in isolated or hard environments (penguins, gallahs, or some bobtail skinks) evolved to be monogamous.

It is easier for offspring to survive until adulthood (and reproduce) while living in a harsh environment with very few siblings if they have two parents rearing them.

Human infants are uniquely helpless for a long period of time relative to the animal kingdom as well.

What's this "we" shit?

I'm neither married nor monogamous.

Why limit your team to just two players?

I don't think we are wired for multiple partners. I know MY wife would never be happy in a situation like that and to be honest, I don't think I would be either. I've dated two girls at a time and it wasn't long before I deleted one of them in favor of getting closer to the other one. I know some people who could do it, but I think the inherent complications with something like that would get old pretty fast, once the novelty wore off.

The whole "alpha" fantasy is really based on viewing humans as somehow identical to wolves, goats, dung beetles or whatever and obviously ignores direct study of our species and our closest relatives.

As you say the length of time human offspring take to develop means that theres a massive advantage in not just picking the biggest/strongest mate but one who will stick around and treat you and the children well for the years they take to mature.

Besides that as well human's have a much more generalised empathy that's needed to function as a co operative society, if the majority were sociopaths who had no problem killing and inflicting suffering on anyone to get the best for themselves(or indeed for there immediate family) we'd still be on the east African plans or extinct altogether.

Honestly most of the time I don't tend to view the "red pill" crowd as actual sociopaths, just people of low self esteem who have been sold a false world view that helps explain there lack of success. It does of course make for a vicious circle as well as these pickup artist types naturally end up with women of a similar view much more likely to cheat on or manipulate them hence confirming there own views. You want to know whether the "good women" are? there in relationships with the "good men" for the most part.
