If Nate fights Ferguson in December for the real title, will Connor's title be demoted to interim champion?

Or will the UFC strip Connor altogether?

Wtf is going on today? The threads just keep getting more and more dumb.

why not? but the UFC would never punish its golden goose

why? mcgregor is a duck and needs to be called on it

Regardless, have you ever seen a lineal championship turned into an interim?

He's always been afraid to defend so it just needs to be stripped.

That's not how belts work. The interim belt is for when the champ is out indefinitely. When you're out too long, you don't get demoted, you get stripped.

Pretty sad when Nate Diaz is the bar for legitimacy in a division full of people who can beat him lol

He'll get his own division/title where he can just play around in once a year.

The UFC isn't that stupid. They don't give a fuck about Tony or Nate. They just care about money (Conor)

Obviously Conor's title will not be downgraded, but this does raise an interesting question...

Because in the past interim belts have been utilized when the champion is unable to defend the title due to factors beyond their control... mostly injuries.

Here we have a champ clearly capable of defending his title, but just too busy pursuing other ventures that he (and his management team) have deemed more worthwhile.

If he doesn't defend the belt to a legit contender within his own sport and weight class... why not strip him of the title? Surely when a fighter becomes champion they accept the responsibilities involved... most important of all, defending against worthy challengers. He didn't defend the 145 belt and is still yet to defend 155 too. He is only doing his colleagues an injustice here. It just seems like what little meritocracy was left amongst the UFC's ranking system is now gone - with high-profile big-draw fighters inexplicably jumping the queue over legit threatening challengers.

Its Conors title until he gets beat. They can strip him....who gives a shit? Nobody would think hes not the champ. He'd smoke Max and Aldo again too.

He could have beat Aldo and Alvarez on the same night in 3 rounds.

Everyone knows Ferguson is holding the real belt..

Spoken like a true cuck.

There is no champ in the UFC named Connor.

I was under the impression that when the UFC strips someone of their title, they are not demoted to "interim" champ.

Conor is about money now. He doesn't give a flying fuck about defending a belt, he cares about the biggest payday. The UFC, or better yet "Zuffa Boxing" should have their own "Who wants to fight Conor for money" division.

Nothing against him at all, as a matter of fact, congrats to him on being able to make millions talking a load of shit. Awesome business man from a perspective he backed up a lot of what he talked and got paid...lets see how good of a financial planner he is with all of his earnings. I bet he shits it away in 10 years or less. He needs that camera, some of us don't...
