So, here we are. v39. We've been doing these threads for more than seven years now. As per usual:
Give reviews. Get suggestions. Chat about new chapters or episodes. New posters are welcome.

Yup.

It's Cool that this is still going. The Decline of 2/3ds of the Shonen Jump Big 3 (Naruto/Bleach) was a pretty big factor in the activity here going down . As well as a host of other titles getting the abrupt cut. For me was sad to see HSDK and Toriko end what seemed to be on a whim both had open ended finishes leaving more adventures possible but at least HSDK ended on it's terms.

The hiatus for HxH manga is finally over, until the next one

So, they just let that Big faced dude die. Poor dude should have wore a skirt and Sanji would have saved him.

Was legit pretty fucking bummed about that. I've...Actually grown to like Bege. Before I didn't like when he was introduced and thought he'd likely be an enemy of the crew, but seeing him in action more has greatly endeared him.

Mostly just a lurker, but since this is the start of a new thread I've wanted to ask something for awhile. Why is it ok to post One Piece manga spoilers without tags? I know this thread is mostly a small group of regulars, but it's always bothered me as an Anime only One Piece fan.

You've pretty much nailed it with the bolded. After so many years of posts its basically whittled down to the same people and those who comment on OP all read the chapters ASAP. Posts have also gotten infrequent enough that it's generally assumed that if you're posting then you're a regular reader who is going to already be caught up on most popular series.

dam sure took awhile to get here

Not Knocking your preference for the Anime but you are missing out on not reading the Manga. There is an aesthetic about how Oda crafted his chapters that are missing in the Anime. Also since a long running Anime that follows a Manga in Japan like One Piece doesn't take a break the animation quality can go really bad in many episodes also a lot of filler episodes not canon to the main plot.

It's cool to revisit some of the old Toonami and Adult Swim shows from the 2000s . Obviously DBZ was the main attraction at the time. But overall in the Toonami side my favorite was Outlaw Star just liked the dynamic of of that Crew. Then for Adult Swim Cowboy Bebop , ( You're gonna carry that weight).

I remember staying up late to catch Trigun, Ghost in the Shell, S-cry-ed and then Inuyasha before crashing.

And others shows like Big O and FLCL.

Toonami brings back so many memories.

Man...Tenchi Muyo, Full Metal Alchemist, Zatch Bell, Zoids. List just goes on.

Is it wrong for me to say that I just kind of liked Outlaw Star more than Cowboy Bebop? OT just nailed that sweet spot for me in ways that CB kind of didn't. The Sci-Fi Fantasy aspects like the Caster Gun(still to this day one of my ULTIMATE dream fictional weapons up there with lightsabers)definitely helped by the way as did knife fighting spaceships(come on man, how is that not fucking awesome). Both shows also had awesome soundtracks as well.

Apologies and we'll tag stuff from now on again. But yeah as Heavyarms said, you're definitely missing a bit of the nuance that's missing in the anime from the manga especially the cover stories and certain scenes being censored.

Edit: It also got an awesome digital recolor.

They actually made some sequel movies to s-CRY-ed. Good Lord I need to binge watch some of these shows again.

On some days I feel the same. Bebop is superior but feels like an Anthology of short stories. Outlaw Star on the had more of an overarching plot . Also neat that the guy that the Narrator for Outlaw Star ( Beau Billingsly ) also Voiced Jet Black. He also Voiced Bear Walken in Gungrave , A criminally underrated Anime.

I rewatched my Outlaw Star DVDs a year or so ago and was surprised by how well it has held up. There's some spots here and there where it definitely shows its budget, but they spent their money wisely and the stuff that needed to look awesome looked totally awesome. It was the complete opposite of something like Evangelion where they had shot their wad by the end and you got a glorified slideshow for the last episode.

I don't think it's wrong. They've got a really different tone and aesthetic. And the design work for both series is top-notch. Like you say, that caster gun of Gene's is super cool.

anyone here still reading food porn I've really been enjoying this arc so far. I've also been reading robot x lazerbeam golem hearts new ping pong manga full drive also black clover

I really enjoy the aesthetic of Japanese Anime in the 90s. Even if they were of different Genres and Tones, ( Outlaw Star, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop , Yu Yu Hakusho, G Gundam.) You could still tell in was animated in the 90s .

Yeah was asking in jest and I 100% agree about the tone and aesthetic(kind of preferred the rockability and more upbeat one of OT) and like I said, Caster Gun is up there with fucking Lightsabers man.

Agree. It's not just the aesthetic, but something about their tone in story. You can also add Tenchi, Slayers, Irresponsible Captain Tyler, Ruroni Kenshin and a bunch of others to that list.

Edit: I'm looking up a bunch of other anime from that era like Record of Lodoss War, Fushigi Yugi, Devil Hunter Yohko, Tsukikage Ran, and Orphen, etc., and they all just LOOK 90's so HARD. Like the way the characters look is so distinct to that era. Reminds me that I need to binge watch some of these again.
