I'm not sure GSP should really get credit as a 2 division champion

Nothing against him, but he beat a past prime bisping. Who wasn't even a top 5 fighter. On some level we have to take off the rose coloured glasses and see that win for what It was.

It was a good win and a good performance having been off for 4 years but It certainly shouldn't have been a championship fight.

We all know Bisping was the equivalent of Matt serra when It comes to credibility as a champion.

That said, no hate on him for not staying at middleweight. No reason for him to fight the killers of that divisionn at this stage of his career,

We had MMA Math

I declare you the father of MMA Calculus

He's a) a two-division champion who b) had an extremely easy path to the second belt.

Not hard to understand. Both points are true. Once you break the "champion = best fighter" connection, it becomes easy to hold those thoughts together.

yah, I should've worded the title better.

When you have the lineage you have the title. You can cry about Bisping not meeting your standard, but he beat the champ, who beat the champ, who beat the champ which means he met the standard of undisputed champion no matter how many belts the UFC prints up. GSP beat the champ and holds the title.

GSP prolly should leave 185. The lineage of the beginning of the UFC MW title, PRIDE lineage, Strikeforce lineage, Anderson Silva’s reign ends with GSP. He conquered an era. Something GOATish about that. Then MW title has to re-build its pedigree. Remember the WW title in UFC is young, since GSP killed all lineage, thus all prestige when he vacated.

this lineal champ BS...yawn....

So now we're taking away championship reigns because we don't respect the champion they beat? GTFO.

What everyone should ask themselves is if a champion is really a champion if they don't defend their title (i.e. Rockhold, Serra, Holm)

Witaker is the champion.

Bisping defended the damn thing against Hendo in a wheelchair.

Unfortunately we can thank the UFC and Bisping for this. The UFC forces rematches on us all the time including many times when most of us aren't excited about it. Where was the rematch demand to force Bisping to do a rubber match against Rockhold? How did he get to fight over the hill 11th ranked Henderson as his first defense and then fight a non-MW as his second defense?

GSP was handed the MW belt on a silver platter so that the UFC and he could make big money. GSP has now also proven that he is a fake shell of a fighter. All he cares about is the way it looks on paper. He lied all the way to the bank with his talk when he never really wanted to stay as a Middle weight fighter.

He has fought at MW the same number of times as mcgregor has fought at LW.

I don't see you disputing mcgregor's claim.

Compared to Conor who beat verified GOATS to get his?

McGregor fought a fighter that was/is a legitimate Top 5 fighter. Most of us are unhappy with McGregor for a different reason.

GSP specifically picked out Bisping because he knew that Bisping is old and not a Top 5 form fighter. (and now we know he never intended to fight legitimate Top 5 MW fighters).. HUGE DIFFERENCE.

Same could be said for Conor. He beat Eddie Alvarez to get his 2nd belt.

Eddie got dominated by cowboy and was lucky to get those 2 split decision victories. Was also fortunate to get the title shot after that terrible Pettis fight.

pft..then I decide to also crown Gegard Mousasi as champion who then left for Bellator. Same difference. Atleast his last UFC win was a former champ.

I guess that’s what Tito meant when he said best...of the night.

You forgot the part where Bisping also beat the champ.

Ok, but then you can start debating all sorts of other champions too. Then the idea loses all meaning.

The made up paper champ BS...yawn

Titles are meaningless then
Big Deal.

Back in the days, HW Ruiz was a lineal champ too, guess u were the only one who considered him legit.
