The Best Basslines Ever!

I always loved Flea's bassline in "Take the veil cerpin taxt" by The Mars Volta.

At 4:37 on - so smooth

Also TMV's breakdown in Cygnus - 3:34 on

No love for Billie Jean yet?

And it might not technically be a bass line, but it’s played on a bass so I’m claiming it...

How the flying FUCK did I miss this thread...

- Need some Pino Palladino.

- Larry Graham...

- Joe Dart (Vulfpeck) is a killer newer player.

- Need some Failure bass lines. Heavy as fuuuuuuck. Both Ken and Greg are amazing players.

- Jaco. Not a "bass line"...but still, unreal.

Going back a bit, I always enjoyed Paul McCartney's bass playing in I Saw Her Standing There, but I think I remember reading somewhere that he lifted it from a Chuck Berry song.

Also Tony Iommi and a Bill Ward seem to get more attention for this song, but I can't get enough of Geezer's bass on War Pigs.

Good choice but probably not flashy or metal enough for this thread. Personally, I favor groove over flash. I really like the bass playing on Easy Lover by Phil Collins and Phillip Bailey.

Derek's slap bass at 2:30 and onward on

His other bass work in the group

Paul Simon - "you can call me al "

If it hasn't been mentioned. Sick bass riff near the end. Paul plays a six string bass on the album and he's all but 5'3" . Impressive...
