So you're going to spend time in the bush, you need a Handgun as a last line of defense, which would you choose and why?

Some choices are:

1, Glock 40 10mm

2, 45 ACP comp gun with penetrator bullets

3. 44 Mag

4, 9mm with Penetrator Rounds

5, 357 Mag

6. 454 Casull

7. Desert Eagle 50

8. FN 5.7X28mm

Gonna say .50AE, just as the hardest hitting handgun round that I've fired. I don't own one but the Desert Eagle trigger seems good enough. Then again, I don't live in big bear territory.

I shot one of those Desert Eagle 50s. What a blunderbust. Weighed as much as a rifle too.

That 10mm Glock might not be too bad. 15 rnds.

Then again in a pinch I suspect you could make a bear get off you with 6 or 7 rounds to the face from any of the guns listed as long as the gun worked and didn't fuck up on you.

The 45 comp-gun is heavier than the 10mm, has less shots, but from past experience with such guns I could dump 8-rnds in under 2 seconds keeping them in a 6 inch plate at 10 yards. Those guns are bullet-hoses.

Hottest loads I ever shot in my comp gun were 200grn bullets going 1304fps. Not too bad. Plus I already own one and wouldn't have to buy.

Curious if anyone will choose the Hi Point.

2 votes a piece yo.

Prolly a shit ton of 44 mags in Alaska.

10mm most likely.

Second choice would be .460 S&W because 360gr of lead moving at 1900 fps hitting with 2860 fpe.

Oh btw with lighter rounds this thing is basically a laser out to 200 yards. If you do a 200 yard zero it's about 6" high at 100.

I went with the 10mm. A mag full of hot load 10mm should take care of about anything. I would consider a Glock 17 with a 33 round mag load with some Underwood ammo to be a good choice too. IMO, I'd rather be able to shoot a lot of rounds quickly and accurately than one or two slowly. Shot placement is key and I want the most chances of hitting the right spot if I'm in duress.

If the handgun is my last line of defense then Im running away because whatever I used first didnt kill it!

Either 10mm or 357 mag. I can't land follow up shots for shit with a 44mag so I would have to be a one hitter quitter with it.

10mm but in a Glock 20. Dont need the extra weight and bulk of a 6 inch hunter model

Fuck it: Taurus Raging Judge

It can handle a bunch of different ammo, so it's diverse. And 454 Casul can be shot out of it, which should be able to put down just about anything short of a fucking dinosaur.

It also has a longer barrel than The Judge so you can shoot longer distances with it. It's a hog tho.

Well according to people who frequent bear country , I’d probably want a .44 mag revolver with a 45-75 lever action Carbine rifle.

The crazy nut in me would pair up a 10mm Kriss Vector with a G20 as back up.

I always rock my 10mm, but I started out with a .357.

I like my own 454 casull:

TBH, +P 45 colt ammo with those lehigh penetrators would probably get the job done with less recoil.
