Yoel Romero plans lawsuit against Illinois State Athletic Commission

Until I hear more it is really video proof of him weighing in two hours later, versus his team saying they cut it short right?

With it being a PPV, and so much media out there for it, and everybody having camera's and recording at will, the truth WILL come out, as there is def video of the comission calling it if they did, or if and it is released that Yoel's side is indeed full of BS, good luck winning lol.

We will find out regardless, there is no way there is not video of this going down, one way or the other.

They already talked too much tho...Seems like they said they were planning missing weight first, then taking the 2 extra hours, now, its not rare that the comission stops weight cuts, they stopped Holloway and pulled him from the fight, they stopped Heather Hardy from making weight in NY, just an AC being an AC, next time make weight withing the rules, dont try to bend it like Romero always does.
This what I’m thinking as well. Talk to much, so they planning play the system. Commission only has say she heard what they was planning to do, So she made him weigh in. Then dumbass told the whole world what they was planning on doing.

Which commissions should put stop to it, people doing this. Miss weight first time it’s 25%. If you need 1 hr to make it’s 50%, the full 2 hrs make it 75%. If you miss weight on the two mark 100%.

That will make people stop missing weight.

ALWAYS HEALTH SUPERCEDES ANYTHING ELSE. THAT WILL BE COMMISSIONER'S DEFENSE, HIS HEALTH.. CASE OVER.

The second weigh in was 1h55m later. Even if he got the extra 5 minutes, there is no way he could have cut another 0.2 lb in that time. If he was capable of cutting that quickly, he would have only needed 25 minutes after the first weigh in to make weight.

Everyone can use the second attempt, it's not a crime to do what he did, it's within the rules.
They can, but how about being a professional And make it the first time, like 99.9% of fighters do? Ten weeks should be plenty of time. And he thinks it is Ok to complain after?

Dana White: "Yeah, that happened. So apparently that happened. I wasn't here but apparently they gave him 2 hours to cut weight and his guy who helps him cut weight said let's take 40 minutes here. They sat down and they chilled out for 40 minutes. Then they said we'll get you back in the bathtub and right when they started to cut the weight again the commission came busting into the room and said you gotta go, you gotta weigh in now. So obviously we're looking into that now and we're trying to figure out what happened and yeah, that is true."

Yeah, good luck with that.

Kind of fucked him over but he should have just made weight on the first attempt and avoided all this..

Good, hope Romero wins

They're not going to. Courts generally defer to government agencies that have "specialized knowledge."

This is laughable considering how incompetent most ACs are, but all that the commission has to do to win is claim that they were concerned about Romero's health.

There's plenty of footage of how terrible Romero looked on the day of the weigh ins.

Well, that certainly changes a few things, but good luck winning.

So first they planned on missing at the early one. Then they decided to “chill” for 40 minutes. How about just fucking make weight?

He weighed in 1 hour and 56 minutes after his first attempt.

Of course Malki wants to sue. He gets a cut of Romero's purse. Romero's purse was diminished due to

- Losing 20%
- Being ineligible for the FOTN bonus
- Missing out on the higher Reebok bonus now that Romero wasn't a title challenger
- Future potential earnings off Romero as champ

Malki's a snake and wants his cut.

The Kawas are a couple of buffoons.

There is no case here, and if there was, the damages are so little that it's not even worth pursuing.

The commissioner's at liberty to tell the fighter to stop cutting for their own safety. They're trying to prevent a death. That's what they do, and why the sport is regulated.

It's Romero's own fault for being so over to begin with.

Guess he can stay at 185 now... But he isn't getting younger. If he wants a UFC Belt... needs to go balls to the wall and make weight.

Lost the fight wont help him there. But maybe he can get his bonus and lost % back.
