Opinion Joe Rogan on Being Called a Far Right Influencer, "They're Liars!!"

Lol at "needs". It's not Joe's job to be the hall monitor.
would "should" make it better for you? "He should be more aware of who he platforms and to challenge their ideas if they are controversial"...... better?

Meh. I don't think he has any such obligation. His job is not to enforce rightthink.

He's like Burr. They have conservative sentiments but would claim to be "almost socialist" for careers' sake.
I love Bill Burr but the guy has so much white guilt its nauseating. I realize his wife is black and everything but man does he go out of the way to blame everything wrong with the world on white people on his podcast.

I include those on the far left if and when he ever has somebody on that could be considered far left. But the furthest left he has ever gotten is probably Kyle Kulinski or Jimmy Dore.

He does have the obligation if he doesnt want to face criticism.

People are free to criticize Rogan for anything they want. He doesn't owe anyone to shield them from controversial speakers.

then he shouldnt expect to be shielded from the criticism. Which is the topic of the thread..... Joe complaining about being called a far right influencer.

Lol? Who exactly is claiming that Joe Rogan should be exempt from criticism? What is being pointed out in this thread is that a lot of current left wing criticism of Rogan is clearly bullshit.

Joe obviously is or he wouldnt be complaining.

Im yet to see anyone actually criticise Joe, most people on the left think Joe is pretty cool. So I dunno what is being pointed out as bullshit. I called bullshit originally on people calling Joe a right winger, but other than that Im clearly not seeing what you are

Yeah, I've never watched him regularly, but it was something that struck me in multiple episodes I've seen. Rogan doesn't strike me as particularly right wing, he just seems soft on bullshit artists.
I don't expect outright contradiction from interviewers, but I expect them to have looked up enough on the topics discussed to throw a few hardball questions. The only time I remember him really doing that was with Stefan Molyneux (really made him look like a dick actually, on the "deFOO" thing).
Pretty sure that Rogan has never interviewed Molyneux. Dave Rubin has, however. Are you confusing the two?

He's been on at least twice in 2014. Pretty sure it was the second one I've seen.

My mistake, you're right. I'll just say that I didn't watch the podcast nearly as much back then and unfortunately Molyneux has become a lot more extreme and far right since then. I used to find him somewhat interesting even though we still disagreed a lot, now I'm basically done with him.

Yeah, there was none of the "scientific" racism and identity politics back then, it was all anarcho-capitalism. The controversy was around the cult-like organisation of the freedomain radio online community and his encouragement for kids to leave their families. He straight up bullshitted about it.

I don't listen to Joe that much. Other than Alex Jones, who has Rogan had on who are legit alt-right?

I'm afraid the answer is going to be Jordan Peterson...

In the old days he had Stephan Molyneaux on a few times (this is in the pre-500 episodes I believe). They had a public falling out though and he hasn’t been on since. That’s the only legit alt righter he’s ever had on. I guess you can count Milo too .

Indeed. Although I was under the impression that it was aimed more at adults disassociating from their parents/relatives rather than actual children doing so.

he definitely has lots of right leaning opinions as well, i would say from watching him he comes off as more right leaning than left. But I think thats the way most people are, not right down the line either way. But for some reason if you have a handful of opinions that the extreme doesnt like, youre the bad guy.

If you're an adult with a functioning brain and normal balance of hormones, you're probably going to be a bit "right-leaning". It's called maturity.

It was a general message, that's what made it so weird. "If you agree that all taxation is theft, that there should be no government at all, and the primary of the non-aggression principle, tell everyone you know, and dissociate yourself from those who disagree." I don't remember exactly, but I think there was more to it than his yt, his wife's a psychologist and iirc she was pushing his shit in her practice.

It never seemed like he appealed to kids because he talked about stuff that basically only adults cared about in a pretty pedantic intellectual way. It seemed aimed at his adult audience implicitly if not explicitly. Maybe some younger alt-right type kids are fans of his now, I don't know.

Did you ever visit free domain radio at that point? They all seemed like teenage or young adult men to me. When you are preaching "deFoo" to adolescent males trying to establish independence the consequences are obvious.

Back then Molyneux was more so portraying himself as a "libertarian". He was still on the open borders train during those times.

Along with most other libertarian personalities he started leaning more conservative in order to maintain his market audience. I suppose Rogan is one of the rare ones who actually turned to the left.

At the end of the day, it's all about the dollar for these guys.
