A few days ago Azealia Banks tweeted this.

I am in Sweden and feel oppressed by socialism here. No grass, strict alcohol laws and boring food.

A day later she shared this story on Instagram.

The Swedes are definitely racists. They have the kind of racism where you automatically get disgusted when you see a black person, and rather than cast an evil eye, you avoid eye contact at all.

Azealia Banks says she understands why ASAP Rocky "flipped" and continues.

I would have loved to see somebody bomb the shit out of this place and give everyone white something to cry over. Foolish, blonde pigs are what you are.

I mean if a white artist came to the US and said these things about blacks, then as a Swede I had felt a great hatred for this person. How do you as Americans feel about how she pronounces white Swedes in a very aggressive way? Isn't this racism?
 
This is kind of her thing though, isn't it? I thought she was known to be a troll, or at best a "provocateur"? It just sounds like someone saying something outrageous to get attention, which is quite boring now a days.
 
No matter where a person like her goes on planet earth, they'll always feel oppressed somehow. It's ingrained in her mentality.

Also, yes, she's obviously a racist.

If a white Swede had said the same thing about blacks in US while staying there, it probably wouldn't have been interpreted as a joke.

Oh I agree, the double standard with whites and blacks is pretty well established. I just think she's possibly retarded.

And then there are people like me. You may call me naive, but I don't make any difference what skin color you have. We are all equally worthy and if a black treats a white poorly because of the skin tone, then I want to call them racists.

It is relevant to the extent that in a very short time 2 black artists from the US have in some way had a bad experience with Sweden. The other was asap Rocky.

Most of her statements are utterly wrong:

* Immigrants dominate the restaurant sector, so I guess she thinks immigrants should create more exciting food.

* Grass is everywhere if you want.

* Swedes are among the most tolerant people, too tolerant for their own good sometimes.

* I guess she believes that it was blonde Swedes that attacked ASAP.

The only thing she got right was about socialism...;)

Seems to me like a backlash to Trump's suggestions the only good immigrants come from Europe. But I'm just floating that out there. I didn't follow the jailed rapper story at all and as I said, I never heard of this other chick.

But note, I didn't say it was irrelevant to anything. It might be worth saying what you think it's relevant to, however, my question is, sure it's contemptible but what do you think people should do in response?

The least you can ask for is to behave like a normal person when visiting another country. We are all ambassadors for our country as we seek out the world.
