its been evident for a while but never more than in his complete lackluster performance against Volkanski.

Sorry but the Aussie guy is as ordinary as they come prime ALDO would have played with him easily.

He clearly couldn’t pull the trigger anymore despite never being hurt he just couldn’t do nothing anymore.

I’m afraid Aldo is just looking to get paid now ala Anderson Silva.

Aldo’s heart lies with the burger now

Stop it. He wrecked 2 contenders in Stephan's and Moicano and loss to the next in line for a title shot. He still got it but I think he should on legacy fights big fights. He still got the skills to hang with contenders and even beat them but yea he is phoning it in at this point

lol And yet people want to see him rematch Conor McGregor, the same man that knocked him senseless

Claiming "prime Aldo" would have done this/that is like saying Fedor wouldn't have done the stanky leg when getting hit, if only that didn't happen.

yeah its been evident that aldo is not championship material anymore.

he can be like urijah faber now and just beat prospects who are climbing the ranks.

max, volk, ortega, zabit, korean zombie and emmet beat him imo. the rest he beats.

Dudes on a 17 fight win streak. Yes only the last 3 were reasonably tough match ups, but give him some credit

Aldo had 9 title defenses and a 25 fight FW win streak. His legacy as a GOAT is cemented

Yeah that was a strange performance, the few times he actually did push the pace and attack he had Volk worried and backpedaling looking like he was clearly superior but then he would just stop and wait again for long periods of time and didn't push at all in the 3rd.

His previous fights since Holloway looked nothing like that though and should flashes of the Aldo of old though clearly a step behind where he was when it came to defence and distance control so maybe he just wasn't feeling it that night.

We all have the occasional uncharacteristic days on the job where we just obviously aren't on our game for whatever reason but fortunately instead of millions of people only our co-workers are able to see it.

For being “past his prime” also has been putting away some pretty tough fuckers in the last 2-3 years. Imo, there’s never any shame in losing to an undefeated fighter

Aldo is not impressed by your thread, TS.

I used to get mad at fighters who kept fighting who were well past their primes to just get a paycheck, but I don't blame them. Uriah Faber came back from a 3 year retirement and banked $400K. Jose Aldo probably still makes $300Kto $400k a fight.

Anderson Silva has made far more money since getting knocked out by Chris Weidman than in his entire career as champion. Overeem get's paid $800K to get knocked out every other fight. If the UFC is still paying you, why not. Look at Jim Miller. He's a journeyman fighter, he'll never fight for a title, but he still makes about $200K a fight. If he fights 2 or 3 times a year, plus Reebok money, banks a few bonuses, gets some outside sponsors, he just needs to fight 3 or 4 more years and he's set up nice.

If you live a frugal lifestyle and can put away a few million dollars and buy some rental properties, you are better off than 98% of the population. You don't have to work again. You can do what you want, run a gym, coach part time, still take some endorsements that pay you a few thousand a month on the side. You're done.

Aldo isn't as dominating as he was before but to be fair, he got caught by McGregor with a perfect shot coming in, lost twice to one of the all-time great champions and once to arguably the biggest threat to said aformentioned champ. That's stiff competition for anyone and fights any other top five ranked fighter stands to catch an L in.

he's only 32 but is on the decline like a 38-39 year old fighter

guess that happens when you turn pro at 17

he's not the best anymore. thats what happens after so many years on top. he'll win some and lose some.

He's still the same. The sport just passed him by. His skills aren't good enough for the new breed.

If Aldo is a GOAT then so is Askren.
Why? Aldo dominated FW at the highest level for years. Askren can't even have a dominating performances on his only win at the highest level. TF you talking about.
