I'm not the marrying type. But I think I posted her on here before... She's certainly out of my league. I'm aware of that. I'm just not religious and I don't think the government has any business in my relationship. I've actually never heard one compelling case for getting married. The opposite, actually.

both sides have pushed things far too each way, and there needs to be some kind of middle ground.
but theres too much "my team vs your team" going on for any real real progress to be made.

The talking heads on the tv screens and smart phones going back and forth are just there to perpetuate these myths onto us. Trump donated to the Clintons and refused allegiance to the Republican party in a televised primary debate. Where would the Republican party be today without the name Trump? The DNC paraded Lord Mike Bloomberg around their primary in 2019 who was a career long Republican. I'm old enough to remember Pocahontas Warren was a sniveling conservative in the 90s. The media now champions her as a far left female token and no one questions this shift in the total opposite direction. These are not outliers. They are showing us the lines are not just blurred, they are non existent

These meaningless affiliations are just ways to keep us herded and divided while they steal everything from us and transfer it into the bank accounts of the overlords.
There's a reason why overlords like Bozos, Gates and the Waltons are raking in insane massive record breaking profits and buying up everything all across the globe since the bullshit lockdowns began

You're not alone. I have been the picture of a center left (on the bulk of issues) classical liberal for most of my life, with multiple Liberal party votes under my belt and generally moderately progressive views on a wide range of issues.

Now I've been lumped in with the most extreme of the right for wanting to pump the breaks on things, and it's at the point where I exist in an environment which is supposed to be the pinnacle of free exchange of ideas (a university humanities department) and I literally need to lie about my shifting politics because people there would find them so intolerable it would have real career repercussions for me. This is how you build a backswing, and I just hope that it is moderate and measured and not a sledgehammer to the people who have broken the discourse.

For as long as I can remember, I've been a staunch liberal. Here's what I realized recently: The left takes things way too far.

I'm in favor of police reform... But defending the police and labeling them all murderers, racists and cowards is absolutely ridiculous.

I have nothing but love and respect for the LGBTQ community, and I wish them all a happy Pride Month. But I don't want kids at a drag show where sexually suggestive signs are up and those ladies are twerking. Nor do I want my child reading pornographic material in middle school because everyone is too afraid to call it what it is for fear of being labeled a bigot.

I do my best to understand the plight of the un-housed. I think there should be far more social programs to mitigate what I see as a national crisis... But allowing them to take over entire cities and turn it into a warzone that looks like a third world country and isn't safe for anyone is far from the answer.

I stand with anyone that identifies as trans-gendered. I think it takes a lot of courage and strength to live one's authentic self and wish all adults or even those close to adulthood a happy, safe journey in that regard... But allowing little children to pick their identity and/or giving them hormone therapy? Absolutely unacceptable.

I support the BLM movement completely... But taking over swaths of entire cities, fire-bombing police stations and hurting people does nothing for this cause.

I believe Climate Change is a real thing. The evidence is overwhelming... But to punish Americans and make them do the heavy lifting which may or may not change a thing while other countries have zero interest in doing the same.... is unfathomable to me.

I understand that we have a higher incarceration rate than nearly anywhere else and think this should be looked at and solved. But allowing soft on crime prosecutors to take over is absolutely bullshit. And heaving the Squad talk about abolishing prisons makes me want to vomit.

I believe in immigration and think that immigrants were and are the backbone of our country... But understand that there needs to be a process. People are just flooding into our borders and anyone that says this could be problematic is deemed a racist. Absolutely ridiculous.

There are so many people just like me that are tired of this nonsense, and will abandon the left now, that I think it will spell real disaster for what was once a reasonable party with a lot of good ideas and frankly, the moral high ground. Now it's a cesspool of wokeness where idiocy rules and everything is racist, sexist or homophobic.

Honestly, I hope the left learns a hard lesson.
