Relatives that don't understand technology

Now think about all the people that don't understand tech, people, societies, business, etc. Some seem very happy in their ignorance, others are constantly irate in their state confusion.

But, what I don't understand is, how the hell do you jam a USB cable into an HDMI port?!

We're gonna make this HDMI port squeal like a pig. Squeal like a pig!

A suggestion for those of you that are having to help people out with the same tasks multiple times: Type up instructions including photographs of every step so that even a small child could follow them, then laminate those. Make a backup copy for when the person you give them to inevitably misplaces or loses them...

personally, it would be most difficult to train an old timer not just how to sherdog, but how to sherdog well.

My dad insists cash is superior to using a credit card.

Always think of him when some retiree is holding up the line at Wawa while buying the daily newspaper.
No paper trail for buying the porno mags?

Even at work, people won't make that much effort to teach someone else something.

I help my grandparents out when I can but they’ve have relied on the Geek Squad to do everything for them technology related for a while now. Realized they were in over their heads and just pay people to do it.

he's not wrong

it's like sherdog, sometimes it's nice being anon.

People who have new and high priced cars, but you still see them driving holding up and shouting into their phones, because they do not know how to sync to the car system.
well, there's a reason not to sync to the car

it's bothersome
it may get out of sync
car is shared, so when another person uses, all the sudden your connected to the car and cant figure out why the volume turned off!

Technology can be confusing sure. but I don't understand how people can't figure out physical shapes. If the end of the cable isn't the same shape as the port, wouldn't logic dictate that it won't fit?
Partly, but ports are sometimes on the back and you do them by feel, people are drunk, it's dark, etc. USB C was amazing for this reason haha

Micro usb was a nightmare. What made it worse, was when a micro usb port was next to micro hdmi.

Yeah. Even hdmi isn't that great, and DP is only slightly better.

Don't even start on mini usb vs micro lol

I can't wait till I don't understand this stupid bullshit. Good chance there are no computers around in another 30 years tho anyways

My mom still refers to the monitor as the computer. She calls the computer the hard drive.

I have an aunt who lives nearby, who calls me when her cable box goes into sleep mode and turns her TV off.

Concern: "It just turned off. What does that mean?"

Advice: "Well, turn it back on. See what that does."

Result: "Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!"

I'd laugh, but I ask equally stupid questions about my phone, when it stops obeying me.
