Social Kevin McCarthy ousted; Mike Johnson becomes US House speaker

What do you mean? They told the guy from the outset that he was only getting their support if he didn't cross them. He crossed them. He's out. They stuck to their plan.

So when do they actually do the job they are paid to do? you know they are public servants not the mafia or a bunch of high school girls.

This wasn't some wild out of nowhere move, and it's nice to see some conviction behind their words for a change, and see someone get punished for their failures.

Conviction? they have absolutely no way of forcing anything, this won't push their agenda or anything and certainly doesn't helps Congress function either.

Oh', and it's not like the rest of the party didn't agree with them. The six or seven MAGAs didn't make this happen on their own. McCarthy is clearly not well liked, so why should they just stick with status quo, that isn't getting what they want done? Just because?

Oh this explains everything, as usual you are completely ignorant of the situation and speak with your head inside your ass.

Republicans voted 8-210, that's 3.6% who voted to oust McCarthy

The reason this stunt worked was because Dems said that they were not going to save McCarthy ass after he was such an ass to Dems and Dems voted yay.

The fraud squad didn't even stand up to Pelosi when she was removing them from committees. They got in line and called her "mama bear".

Mccarthy doing the walk of shame only shows how weak and spineless the "progressive" dems are.

The, eh, "Fraud Squad" just voted -along with every other Democrat- to remove McCarthy from the Speakership lol
Him doing the walk of shame actually shows how lock step the Democrats are vs the completely disjointed dumpster fire clown fiesta that is the GOP. God you suck.

Democrats were dumb to go along with this shitshow.

Whatever you think about McCarthy from the left, right, or center, he has shown the ability to negotiate and compromise to at least keep our government running.

I really wish you would stop quoting me.

Time to sit back on watch the GOP eat itself.
The Freedumb Caucus dont have enough votes to get anything done, and the Adults in the GOP will eventually get sick of their shit. So it is time to sit back and watch the Civil War.
I mean Trump lost in 2020 and the Freedumb Caucus is still acting like Trumpism is a winner. It only wins in their gerrymandered district.
Lindsey was right but was a little off on his prediction.

“California Republican Kevin McCarthy has become the first speaker of the House forced out of the job in US history, after a rebellion by far-right Republicans that was aided by Democrats and fueled by frustration over his approach to government spending and negotiating with Joe Biden.“

Trump taught the MAGA caucus well. When you may be about to fuck up bigly--like they just did, have a scapegoat near at hand.

at 269 days, kevin mccarthy's tenure as speaker is the second shortest ever, second only to Michael C. Kerr, who died in from tuberculosis in 1876 while serving as speaker.
I heard Michael C Kerr died from the COVID Vax.

Really? They're public servants who have constituents to please? Well, they just did that job. Their job is not to get elected and then tell their supporters to deal with their ineptitude, because ousting a speaker would be bad optics. They did exactly what they told their supporters they would do.

Conviction? they have absolutely no way of forcing anything, this won't push their agenda or anything and certainly doesn't helps Congress function either.

If "functioning" congress means bending over for the Dems, maybe they don't want that particular brand of congress functioning.

Misread the vote. Sue me. It really has nothing to do with the overall point that this guy fucked around and found out, and that it's refreshing to see someone actually be held to a standard they promised to uphold. I mean, yeah, it's a real shame that they're not as phony as AOC and the squad...

Republicans are just addicted to grand standing and chaos. Its bizarre people vote for these guys. They hate their own more than dems they are so self righteous and dramatic. They are not serious people.

There's always been doing the job and then performing the job on TV. Biden and Trump are on opposite extreme ends in terms of their weighting of those two roles. And what we're seeing is the whole party kind of following Trump on that--giving up on doing the job but playing the role to the hilt.

i wonder how many rounds of speakership votes it will go to this time and how many more times democrat minority member hakeem jeffries will get the most votes?
Any idea how many Republican votes the Democrats would need to select the Speaker? Instead of continuing to vote for Jeffries they should see if they can make a deal with enough moderate Republicans to vote one of them into the position. It would be a rational Speaker that could run the House in a more bipartisan manner.
