I find your mention of illegal emigration and the Balfour Declaration in two consecutive sentences to be of interest because you fail to note the irony. The Balfour Declaration supposedly created a "national home" for the Jewish people and then the British did everything in their power between 1933 and 1947 to make sure that wouldn't happen.
Had the Arabs accepted the 1947 Partition plan, they would have had a lot more land.
