Ok, so this is how it is, I selected 10 games from each genre of game for SNES of 8 genres. Each game that wins the poll from each genre of game makes the quarterfinals. Prelim stage is to find out what your favorite game for each genre is then the tournament REALLY starts when those games are found.

If a game wins a prelim by less than 5% margin like say this is how it goes......

Super Tennis - 8%
Madden 95 - 25%
NBA Jam TE - 32%
Tecmo Super Bowl - 35%

We will have a separate poll with those 2 games competing against each other since that's just too close with 10 games selected and 2 games literally tying each other.

If there is a separate poll with 2 games, doesn't matter if one game wins by 1 vote in that poll, the winner wins.

The eight genres will be

RPG - turn based style
RPG - action or adventure style
Racing -
Fighting -
Sports -
Side Scroller - Platform Style
Side Scroller - Shooter or Action Style
Hybrid Games - Games that are really hard to put what genre it is, puzzle games, or games which are in a VERY rare genre during this point of gaming such as Super Punch Out, Kirby's Dream Course (golf game), Tetris Attack, Actraiser, Romance of Kingdoms, Star Fox (can't find too many games like Romance back in that day to make 10 choices).

So, this poll is for Fighting Games.

Killer Instinct
Mortal Kombat 1
Mortal Kombat 2
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Super Street Fighter 2
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters
Saturday Night Slam Masters
Fatal Fury Special
Primal Rage

I choose TMNT: Tournament Fighters. SSF2 turbo is fun but unfortunately the turbo version wasn't released on SNES in America. But regardless, TMNT had very creative special moves, characters, gameplay, excellent music, excellent graphics, and showed Konami could freakin make a kick-butt fighting game.

I had a hard time choosing.. it was between one of the Street Fighters, TMNT or Saturday Night Slam Masters..

They're all awesome.. Went with TMNT since I had it for both Genesis and SNES for some reason, played the fuck out of them both since they were slightly different..

Street Fighter II and its dozens of spin offs were the best.

Don't get me wrong, MKII was amazing and I dropped many of hours into that game, but SFII has stood the test of time.

Went with Street fighter 2 Turbo. By the time SSF2 came out SF2 jumped the shark for me.

Not to hate on this poll, but it's hard to call these SNES games since none are actually original SNES games.

SF2 Turbo was the last great fighting game, super combos ruined the flow of game play and created great of an opportunity to rally back after losing the early parts of a round.

Turbo was the last time where the better player was damn near unbeatable.

I don't want to live in a world where SSF2 has as many votes as Turbo.

SSF2 for SNES disappointing IMO. The sound was horrible and the CPU AI was frustrating.

SF2 Turbo was a near perfect adaptation from the arcade and was loads of fun.

And about the MK series, they were all pretty fun but I gotta stay on the SF bandwagon.

Can't believe SSFII is beating SFII Turbo.

Sherdog, I am disappoint.

I wonder if there's a big age difference between the two groups.

I voted SF2 Turbo, but everyone knows the actual best fighting game on the SNES was weaponlord. By like several miles. Still plays real well, as a matter of fact.

Awesome call.

Went with SF2 Turbo, a much better port than SSF2.

You do realize sf2, even CE or hyper fighting, had a comeback mechanic. It was called huge damage.

Think for a second. I make a mistake and you punish me with a simple 2-in-1 that does 40 % damage. Or I make a mistake and you punish me with a long combo that does 40% damage.

In fact the combo is actually more forgiving on my end, since the longer the combo the more likely it is you will drop it. Even pros make execution mistakes.

The better player will always win since the better player makes less mistakes.

Which of y'all fools votin' for Super Street Fighter II over SSFII Turbo ??

I voted SSF2, but that was an accident - I meant to pick SF2T. Oops.

It's a public poll. You may see who voted on what.

Also what's wrong with Super? I voted that cause I like me some Fei Long. Turbo doesn't have the new challengers.

edit/update:

Whoops, fail on my part, thought it was Super Street Fighter II vs Super Street Fighter II Turbo up there.

In this case I need to change my vote to Super Street Fighter II.

I agree with this, but who here has actually played Weaponlord? You, me, Cyke, and...?

Still, it should be on the list. Slam Masters was good, but it's not a fighting game.
