Goals 2018:

In total I've had over 10 fights, lost one of them and came out unscathed. I think I may stop while i'm ahead. Learned a lot, but not as fun these days. Kind of just became work.
I'll use this log for tracking my fitness.

Goals 2017:

Get more fit (RHR, endurance, attain 6 pack again this year, stronger) - Fail, Fail, check
Get knee issues figured out - Working through it now, some PFP pain and meniscal.
Not sure if I'll continue fighting, life is good, job is good, motivation is hard. We will see.- Had one fight this year on about 5 or 6 days notice at heavyweight, won.

Goals 2016:

Same as 2015's basically plus
Graduate and pass my licensure exam - check
Get a job - check
Would like to score a clean KO - almost
Travel more - check
Fight out of state - fail
Stay closer to weight so I don't have to dehydrate as much - fair
Become proficient fighting in a southpaw stance - better
Win another pro title - fail
Stay undefeated - fail

Goals 2015:

Steadily get stronger - Failed, strength training took a dive
Stay undefeated - Check
Make my pro debut this year - Check
Stay in shape to take short notice fights - Check, but couldn't acquire any
Work on my boxing - Check, but obviously keep at this

Maxes 4/13/15
Power Clean - 235
Squat - 295
Dead lift - 350
Bench - 295

Jogged 1200 meters, then skipped some rope and then boxing practice.

Drilled slipping jabs mostly, but worked on slipping some 1,2's and countering to the body and then coming high with it.

Focus was mostly on footwork.

4 or 5 rounds light sparring with different partners only working on the above.

Finished off with 4, 3 minute rounds on the bag.

Found out I may be on a card in about 2 months after practice.

Weighed 208 after practice, also started my diet back yesterday morning so just water fluctuation and being a little dehyrdrated after practice.

Jogged a mile.
Then a crossfit class.
Consisted of various kettlebell exercises, box jumps, crunches, burpees and rowing.

Followed by a short boxing practice. Practicing slipping jabs and countering with hooks.

Yoga this morning.

In the evening a 1 mile jog

Grappling practice. Focus was on sweeps from half guard.

Followed by several rounds of live rolling.

Jogged a mile.

Today was a strength and conditioning day, followed by hard grappling.

Consisted of:

Mobility exercises for a warm up

Fat bar dead lifts
Cleans
Push presses
Pullups

Then about a 10 minute break into live rolling for 5 min rounds and switching opponents for 4 or 5 rounds. I felt really good today.

Weighed 210 this morning.

Missed Friday's workout, did nothing Saturday.

Was going nuts so I got in a quick lift on Easter.

Bench
-1x5 @ 135
-1x5 @ 155
-1x5 @ 175
Dumbbell Bench 3x8 @ 55lbs
Incline Bench 3x5 @ 135
A random amount of chin ups
A random amount of crunches

1 mile jog

Boxing technique, basically improving upon what we have been working on

Slipping jabs, then counters off them
Slipping crosses or jab crosses into counters
slipping 1,2,3 and then a counter shot

Working more on foot work and being in the correct position more than anything else

1 mile jog

For s&c today we did some fun stuff I think that the s&c coach saw on a ufc countdown with hendricks or something.

It was like footwork drills with an agility ladder and hitting pads when we came out or during.

Then 75 medicine ball squats
75 crunches

Then a crossfit ish workout consisting of

single arm kettlebell swings
single arm military presses
single arm kettlebell release swings
burpees
box jumps
pull ups

Then my striking coach went over some kicking fundamentals. Mostly kicks from the southpaw stance that I'm not incredibly used to yet.

Finished with 50 kicks to the bag each leg

1 mile jog

Grappling today, about a 2 hour practice

Worked a guard pass to side control
from side control to mount
from mount to arm triangle

Then live grappling for a while

Decided to break my keto today
My pro debut is going to be at a catch weight of 195 instead of the 185 I thought it was going to be. Right now weighing about 207 so gaining a couple of lbs and getting fat wont hurt. Probably will go back on keto in the future.

Good luck on the pro debut! When is it/what organization?

1 mile jog

A crossfit WOD consisting of:
800 meter run
50 pullups
100 hand release push ups
150 sit ups
200 medicine ball squats (sucked)
800 meter run
I ran an extra 800 meters with a person that was dead last because I finished first

Then 12, 3 minute rounds on different bags working different techniques with our coach coming around and correcting us. Like each bag was a different station.

We got into the muay thai clinching at the end and I totally suck at it.
Coach wants us to add about 10 minutes of thai clinch at the end of practice here and there, now I just need to remember to do that.

I am starting keto again in the morning, I shouldn't have even stopped.

Yesterday:

Very sore
800 meter jog

Fridays are open mat
Did some grappling and goofing off

Today:

Still sore
Did 30 minutes of a yoga video, probably nothing else today.

Maxed this morning:

Power Clean - 235
Squat - 295
Deadlift - 350
Bench - 295

Weight is 210

Evening:

1 mile run
Skipped rope 10 mins
Slipping punches drills with various partners focus on weight distribution and footwork
Bunch of bag work as a group, each bag is a different station I want to say 5, 3 min rounds
Also worked on my spinning back kick with the coach at the end, which was a lot of fun.

Hamstrings already sore from maxing this morning, would have been a pretty light day if I hadn't done that.

Sore from maxing yesterday.

Today we did striking, focus was drilling the movements and techniques we have been working on. Pretty chill day, had some new guys come in and the coach was mostly focused on them.

Also we worked on a lead leg, leg kick to someone in the opposite stance (orthodox v southpaw).

Grappling day

Basically it was all free rolling. No one coached we just got in some solid hard grappling switching different opponents every 5 minutes. Taught a guy how to stop or defend some things I was catching him. Fun practice, I was landing omaplatas on everyone.

how old are you and how long have you trained/competed in mma?

23

I wrestled until I was 18, didn't want to wrestle in college.

Started training off and on 3 years ago to help a couple buddies out with their wrestling. Basically for fun and to have something to do.

I didn't start training seriously until Fall of 2013 and had my first match in November of 2013.

Jogged 1 mile

The weights on all these were starting at a medium weight and increasing each set to a fairly heavy for me weight. We have a team mate fighting tomorrow so I'll miss tomorrow unless I go in early.

Dead lifted - all lifts = 8,8,5,3,3,2

Squatted

Lunged

Kettle bell step ups on box

Standing long jumps with and without resistance band

High jumps on boxes, two 20 inch boxes on top of each other

Felt like puking all day, probably sick. Didn't go to practice.
