Jean Grey Unleashed in the DARK PHOENIX Trailers [Updated]

Update: April 22, 2017

New X-MEN Official Movie Title is X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX with November 2, 2018 Release Date

20th Century Fox has given official release dates to three upcoming X-Men movies. New Mutants will open on April 13, 2018. Deadpool 2 will follow on June 1, 2018. The next core X-Men movie, now confirmed to be X-Men: Dark Phoenix, will open on Nov. 2, 2018.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be an adaptation of "The Dark Phoenix Saga," generally regarded as the greatest X-Men story ever told. X-Men: The Last Stand previously adapted the story, but fans were generally not satisfied with the results. The X-Men movies' time travel shenanigans have provided Fox with a rare second chance to do the story justice.

Sophie Turner will return as Jean Grey, the host for the Phoenix Force and central figure of the saga. Tye Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp are expected to return as Cyclops and Storm, respectively. The older members of the prequel trilogy cast had their contracts expire after X-Men: Apocalypse, so their involvement remains up in the air.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is also expected to begin film in Montreal in May, leading to some speculation that the film will connect directly to New Mutants.

New Mutants is being co-written and directed by Josh Boone. The film is inspired by the very first X-Men spinoff series, The New Mutants, which followed a new class of teenage mutants attending Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. The film is expected to begin shooting in early May, with production taking place in Montreal and Boston.

Deadpool 2 is the sequel to 2016's underdog, R-rated hit. Ryan Reynolds will return as Wade Wilson, the merc with a mouth. He'll be working with new director David Leitch. While supporting cast members from the first Deadpool movie are expected to return, Deadpool 2 will also give Wade some new playmates. Atlanta breakout Zazie Beetz will play Domino, a mutant mercenary with the gift of good luck thanks her mutant powers. Josh Brolin will play Cable, the time-travelling mutant soldier/mercenary who gets stuck playing the straight man to Deadpool's zaniness.

Simon Kinberg in Talks to Write and Direct X-MEN: SUPERNOVA

The next X-Men movie – supposedly titled X-Men: Supernova - might start filming this June and would focus on the Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix storyline, which is a comics arc that fans have been dying to see since Bryan Singer teased it at the end of X2. It basically involves Jean Grey succumbing to her powers and transforming into Dark Phoenix, a malevolent force that brings about Grey’s downfall.

Sophie Turner, who was introduced as the young Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse, was on a red carpet when she revealed she was “about to start shooting the next X-Men movie,” but with both New Mutants and this Supernova film rumored to be in development, it was unclear what film she was talking about.

After talking to multiple sources, Collider reports that writer/producer Simon Kinberg is looking to make his directorial debut with the next X-Men movie and he’s already written the screenplay. From what the site hear,s it does focus on the Dark Phoenix storyline and it’s now up to the studio if they’ll use his script and if he’ll get to direct it.

If for some reason you’re not familiar with Simon Kinberg and his relationship to the X-Men franchise, he’s essentially the Kevin Feige of the X-Men universe at 20th Century Fox. If you look over his IMDb resume, you’ll see he’s either written, produced, or been heavily involved with X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, Deadpool, Logan, Legion, and New Mutants.

X-Men: Apocalypse was terrible.

X-Men: Apocalypse was terrible.

Was it? I heard it was and when I watched it I enjoyed it. It wasn't much worse then First Class and much better then Last Stand.

Apocalypse has always been a stupidly ambiguous character and the movie made his powers, motivations and character consistent.

"The" quicksilver scene was fun too.

I sort of liked apocalypse.

Hope they do a better job with this next one

I don't like that word "Supernova" sound like something hippies would say.

I have zero faith in Fox being able to pull off the Dark Phoenix Saga. Hell, they already whiffed on it once.

So this shitbag whiffed on Dark Phoenix the first go around and now he's looking for redemption? Fuck this peterpuffer sideways with a gorilla cock. That ship done sailed, asswipe.

The only fucking names I want to see associated with a Dark Phoenix movie are motherfucking Chris Claremont and goddamn John Byrne.

next one needs a bigger cast. and a bigger space laser shooting into the sky

"teased it at the end of X2." So we're still going with not acknowledging the existence of you-know-what? ;)

While Kinberg has extensive experience as writer and producer (some good movies, some abysmal) i'm interested on what he can do as a director.

They should reboot this franchise from the ground up.
1. Get rid of Singer. Make it look like an accident if you have to.
2. Recast everybody, including Mac & Fass, but definitely Sophie.
3. Do a proper Phoenix Saga trilogy.

A one movie Phoenix Saga with Sophie Turner as Jean Grey ....

the problem with apocalypse was his ending, and how he was shorter than a couple of his horsemen.

he lost a step without the ability to vary his size. which may have only been in the cartoon, but it was cool.
