This is the 7th year that I've kept a training log on Sherdog. I guess time flies when you're having fun. Or goofing off. I started off with basically no lifting experience & worked up to competing in Scottish Highland Games, Jiujitsu Tournaments & a couple of Powerlifting meets.

For 2017 my primary focus is Jiujitsu, but I'm in the gym when I can't make it to grappling class. I travel quite a bit for work, so consistency is my biggest challenge.

Nice workout today, the farmers walk box weight more than 45 pounds, but I don't know what it weights. So until I figure it out I'm just calculating the weight as if it was 45. The fat grips gives me a nice pump in the forearms.

BJJ - 1 Hour

1 tough hour, worked a lot of open guard specific training from both top & bottom. Found out both my guard & my guard passing need a lot of work.

BJJ - 1 Hour

After a long & super drunk weekend made it into Kings on Tuesday am. Continued to work some RDL stuff. Then about 30 minutes of sparring. Good stuff.

Frustrating day at the gym. Was doing squats & presses on the platforms with squat racks - which is where I always do them. When I started presses a trainer came up to me & told me that on the platforms, we were not allowed to use the "normal" weights, which are in pounds. We have to use the bumper plates. I told him I had no problem with that if I was deadlifting or doing oly movements or something, but I'm doing very light overhead presses - I'm not dropping the weights. Furthermore, they don't have fractional plates in KGs - so I have to have bumpers in KG's & then if I want anything smaller than a 5KG plate, I can then add "normal" pound plates to the bar. So now my lifting is basically a math problem. I pressed (20+15*2)*2.2+(5*2) on my last set I guess. Anyway, the guy wasn't changing his mind, just said it wasn't his rule. I finished my Presses & left grumpy. fuckers.

What a douche. I've never experienced anything like this. Sounds like he's ego tripping.
 
Been sick & traveling a ton. Got in a couple of hotel gym sessions, but didn't log. Also been sick so no jiujitsu, don't want to get anyone else sick.

I threw a hammer Sunday. Trying to replace some siding on my house. Shit won't got on square . I bet my 20.oz eastwing would have beat the all time Scottish games record.

Worked halfguard in BJJ this am. nice, easy class - me + 2 whitebelts. Nothing makes you feel quite as good as rolling with a new whitebelt.

At the gym bench felt pretty good - 3x225 is probably a PR for the last 2 years or so, so thats good! Back was a little funky from BJJ this am, so didn't push the deads too hard.

BJJ - 1 Hour

Nice class this morning. Worked on a sequence from turtle where you trap the arm & roll & then worked on countering after the roll with a kimura grip. Then did 20 minutes of specific training. I worked closed guard the whole time, back & forth. Then a quick 5 minute roll. Good times.
