I was actually going to make a thread about this, people are legit mad that Wolfenstein... a game that's always been about killing Nazis is talking about killing Nazis lol.
probably because of the connection drawn by the left between MAGA and nazi movements in modern day America.I was actually going to make a thread about this, people are legit mad that Wolfenstein... a game that's always been about killing Nazis is talking about killing Nazis lol.
Jesus imagine the butthurt if Inglorious Bastards came out now.

We didn't qualify for the World Cup and I'm fucking pissed. I've been waiting four years for this to come back around. Take off some days at work during the summer and go to this Irish pub that's electric during the games. How the fuck can't we get in? I don't care if we have a bunch of other sports. We should still be able to qualify. Fucking billshit
@Clippy
Back for laptop advice. I had an ASUS P50IJ and used it until two years ago. It still worked fine but just was loud and I figured it was time to get something new. Got an ASUS X555L to replace it and in less than two years, it absolutely sucks. I think it may be an issue with the hard drive but it crashes all the time and takes a few tries to boot up. I want to get something new but want to make a good decision like I did with the P50IJ.
Where did I go wrong with the upgrade I got?
What should I get if I was happy with the P50IJ?
Why are all the laptops I find now so thin and flimsy? Is it even possibly to get a sturdy laptop anymore?
Talking out loud here but if I had to guess on some people here... @lecter @Ruprecht
No, I'm not up to date at all, I'm the wrong person to give advice.Do you suggest a specific model? Looking for something under 1k

Lenovo's thinkpads do have a reputation of being more solid than most consumer crap but they definitely got worse.
Personally, I'm mostly using a Lenovo W540 (for ~3 years or so, no problems ) and my employer provides a P70 mobile workstation (I think the P series replaced the W series).
The T-series is also very popular.
T series by a mile
Even refurbished -- they outlast every other out of the box model out there.
Only anecdotal.I think I may actually get the T570 now. The IT guy at work likes Dell a lot but I've always heard awful stories about that brand and HP. Do either of you have thoughts on whether you'd use a Dell?
Only anecdotal.
I friend of mine works for a multinational IT company which provides Dell laptops for all their employees (or at least for those working in field service/customer engineering/from home/etc, anybody who needs a laptop) and apparently, there are a lot of complaints and repairs. Before that, they were using Thinkpads and were satisfied. I believe Red Hat offers Dells as an alternative to Thinkpads for their employees but 90% use Thinkpads. It's anecdotal but it still might be better feedback than reading random forum posts, since they employ ten or fifteen thousands of people. When you read forum posts how many people's opinion do you really get? 20, 30, 40? Apart from the fact that there is no actual "test group" (most don't share their opinion on the internet at all..).
On the other hand, I'd say you probably get more bang for your buck compared to Lenovo's Thinkpads if you look at the specs only.
Usually, you can buy replacement parts for whatever might break on a Thinkpad, very unlikely that you'll have to buy a new laptop as long as you don't run over it with a truck. The most obvious difference I find is you get what you pay for in price range. The first ASUS I had was 900 and it out lasted the newer 400 one I got. Pretty much going to avoid being cheap anytime I make these purchases now. 400 laptops seems to have a 1-2.5 year life to them

You might want to look for a T560 instead though. From what I can see, the main "improvements" are kaby lake vs skylake in some models, others share the exact same CPUs, Intel HD 620 instead of 520, again in some models. If you want to buy an Optimus model (Intel HD graphics + dedicated Nvidia GPU) the newer T570 uses the GeForce 940MX with GDDR5 instead of DDR3 (T560) which definitely makes a difference (20-30%) but neither is optimal for gaming or stuff like that, so I don't really see a use case where you'd definitely want that (I'd go with Intel-only anyway). Both can handle a max of 32GB of RAM.
If you buy a new model, I'd go with a cheap one and upgrade RAM + SSD myself. I just saw on the Lenovo website that an upgrade to SSD (absolutely obligatory) is +$270 for a 256GB SSD and an upgrade to 8 instead of 4GB RAM (also obligatory) is +$70.
That's pretty ridiculous, you get a 250GB SSD for ~$99 on Amazon and a 500GB SSD for ~$150. 4GB of additional RAM cost $30 at most.
But again, I'm not really up to date and I'm not a hardware expert or IT support guy, I work with software. I'm sure other people could give better advice.
