Hello,

I get very bruised knuckles and the skin is always ripped off for a week after any heavy bag session.

I have tried the gel knuckle protectors which you put on before wraps. They didn't work, made punching more painful.

Does anyone know of any other methods to reduce this?

Thanks

what kind of hand wraps and gloves are you using? Also, what material is the heavy bag made out of?

It might be the way you're wrapping your hands (possibly the material you're using). If the wraps are too loose around your knuckles, then you will probably tear the skin there. Also, if you use a gel protector or knuckle protector and it is not wrapped tightly enough, it will also contribute to your skin tearing on account of the increased liability of friction.

In the case of tearing your knuckle skin, less is more. Don't wrap your knuckles too much since this will only increase the possibility of friction. Also, try to use a method of wrapping your hands that will reduce friction.
