Florida neighborhood.

"A serial killer might be on the loose in Tampa, Florida.

Police are warning people not to walk alone at night in the Seminole Heights neighborhood after a third person in 10 days was shot to death on Thursday night.

As CBS News correspondent Manuel Bojorquez reports, police seem certain their murders are all connected, even though the victims did not appear to know one another."

According to the FBI there are between 25 and 50 active serial killers operating in the US right now.

One of the scariest serial killers out there was the Original Night Stalker also known as the East Area Rapist and the Golden State Killer. 50 women were raped between June 18, 1976 and July 5, 1979 in the counties of Sacramento, Contra Costa, Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Alameda, Santa Clara and Yolo in California. He would break into the houses after dark, proceed to tie up any occupants in the house and would threaten to kill them if they didn't comply with him. He would almost always rape the female or females inside the house. Authorities also linked the serial killer to 12 murders committed between October 1st, 1979 to May 4th, 1986. What makes this one of the more compelling cases is the fact the Original Night Stalker would usually call the victims houses before breaking in and would either just hang up, breath heavily into the phone or leave a very short message.

On January 2, 1978 he called one of the victims and left a voice message stating he was going to kill them.

After the murders committed on May 4th, 1986 both the rapes, break ins and murders stopped and the authorities do not know why. The only development since then was a phone call one of the victims received in 1991 from the serial killer himself. She spoke to him for about a minute and said she could hear a woman and children in the background leading to the suspicion he might have started a family.

The case is still open and the theories are that he might have just completely quit that life style and is alive and leading a normal life. As well there is another theory stating the individual might have died at some point after 1991 and finally that he might be in prison for another crime or crimes he committed. Nobody knows what happened to the Original Night Stalker post May 4th, 1986.

If you want more information about the Original Night Stalker you should check out the true crime podcast Case File hosted by an individual in Australia. He produced a five part podcast on the serial killer.

This is a different night stalker than Richard Ramirez? They sound similar.

Well we all know that on sherdog there are at least 3 serial thrillers @John Wang @Cint @Jack Handy jr

Yawn...report back when this “serial” killer gets up to 15 or 20

killings or someone just "standing their ground"?

I have heard this and it seems like this guy is just a murderer. Serial Killers toy with the victim in some shape or form as oppose to just randomly shooting someone. I know the Zodiac used a gun and that serial means more than 3 but they are motivated by sadism as oppose to just randomly shooting someone.

This guy sounds like is practicing to be a contract killer.

Florida. Is normal.
not really I was shrimping outside Tampa and had ice on the boat what kind of shit is that. I flew in from Iowa and had ice and snow up there get to Fla and go fishing a couple days later go from Fort Myers Beach to a few miles off shore of Tampa go to bring the nets in after the drag and ice is all over the deck.

They do sound familiar and the modus operandi is somewhat similar which is why they used the moniker "The Original Night Stalker" to differentiate between this individual and Richard Ramirez. Ramirez terrorized the greater Los Angeles area between April 10, 1984 and August 24, 1985 killing 14 people. The Original Night Stalker final crime was that of rape and bludgeoning Janelle Lisa Cruz, 18 to death in her Irvine home on May 4th, 1986 while her family was on vacation. Richard Ramirez was already in jail by this time. He was captured and severely beaten on August 31st of the previous year by a group of bystanders after he tried to carjack three individuals but was chased down.

The biggest difference between The Original Night Stalker and Richard Ramirez is this fact: The Original Night Stalker started out as prolific burglar only later graduating to rape. The first incident of murder was on February 2nd of 1978 when Brian and Katie Maggiore who were walking their dog got into a confrontation with the Original Night Stalker. They proceeded to try to flee but were shot and killed. With Richard Ramirez he started killing right out of the gate.

Well Ramirez is in prison or was executed
Ramirez died in 2013 of Lymphoma while awaiting execution

You really want to shock people tell them about serial killer Luis Garavito who is known to have killed 147 boys from the age of 6 to 16 during the mid 90's in Colombia. He is suspected of killing near 400 young boys and while in jail has confessed to more murders. He is considered the most prolific serial killer by body count alone

There's most likely a serial killer active in almost every state.

Seriously Netflix going all out with the Mindhunter, viral marketing.
