TJ is one of the greatest fighters we've ever seen.

I can play that game too

Also LOL at showing TJ slipping while Cruz ate a head kick and two punches on the way up in the process in the third gif.

All his gifs came from the shitty jack slack article which only features Cruz's moments, and that's most of the results on google. TJ had by far the best moments in that fight but you'd have to make your own gifs to find them.

Cody was close to knock him out in the end of 1st round... damn I wish he will end up this thing in the rematch.

Uh love TJ, but he was clearly out for a second against Dodson. That was a flash KO.
The gif has even been posted. His legs went shaky, but he literally never hit the ground on the first hit. He popped back up on wobbly legs, then got shoved to the ground, not hit, at which point he rolled on his hip while taking hammerfists to grab the leg. But all Herb Dean knows is "HE FELL TO THE GROUND IN A SPORT WHERE PEOPLE SPEND HALF THE FIGHT ON THE GROUND! Better sprint on in!"

Flash KO insinuates he was ever out. Please tell me the exact moment he goes unconscious.

Nope, flash KO insinuates he was out "for a flash" or a very brief moment. Maybe I'm wrong about whether he was out, feel free to post the gif.

You seem to be really emotionally invested in that fight. He was beat handily by natural 125'er. TJ has improved greatly since then. I think TJ has moved on and you should too.

I hate this place. No threads like this before 217. TJ's been great for years.

really? i don't know man, i thought he got a lot of love and new fans for beating the brakes off barao.

I feel like I'm listening to a smokey episode of JRE and Joe Rogan pulled up a random MMA video and was suddenly mesmerized.

"Flash KO insinuates he was ever out" "No, it insinuates that he was out.."
That's.... the same thing. That's why I asked at what point, but I understand how that was complicated if you wanna split hairs.

You seem to be ignoring context (and a hypocrite, considering you came in with the "uh," unless you actually type sounds people make for emotional context that people don't actually write down, unless they're trying to make it sound like someone it clearly wrong and invalidated). Someone brought up controversy of his past matches so I continued that post with more controversies that happened to him. It's called an analysis of the down's of someone's career for what they were at that point in time. At the time, that fight had been spread everywhere and used as an example of a bad stoppage. I'm sure TJ got over it quick and so did I, but time passing doesn't make the stoppage justified. That's why it was brought up.

Anyway, here's the gif, from all the way back on page 2.

He is P4P top 5 of all time imo, sure he hasn't as many wins and title defenses as other fighters but his level of fighting is higher than Fedor, Jon Jones and maybe even GSP (at least as far as mma striking).

"Flash KO insinuates he was ever out" doesn't make sense grammatically and I incorrectly assumed that you must have made a typo and wanted to say "never out." You must mean "Flash KO insinuates he was out."

That's a good stoppage. In the history of bad stoppages that isn't even on the list. Did he lose consciousness for a split second? Maybe, maybe not.

He's the best w/o question Still can't believe judges forgot octagon control and aggression and rewarded running cotton hands Cruz the belt.

He is at a very elite level.
If he can add 3 defenses more to his resume, that’d be a hell of a career.

He was never out. He was hit on the side of the head behind the ear and lost equilibrium, but never out of it. Similar to GSP vs Serra and vs Condit. In the second instance that GSP lost equilibrium he tied Condit up on the ground until he regained his equilibrium and then went on to arguably win the round. Vs Dodson TJ was went for a single leg and probably would have secured it if Herb did not intervene, he was using his grappling to stay in it. If you want to feel what that sensation is like spin yourself around really fast a few times, you're fully conscious but you'll stand on wobbly legs, your sense of balance is fucked up for a little bit.

GSP vs Condit, he gets hit in the top and side of his head and loses equilibrium, not consciousness

Herb IMO is overall a poor ref, he often stops the fight too early or too late.

During the "snake saga". Which I was a part of because I didn't approve of tjs callout of MM

"Was he ever out?" "No. Never was he ever out." > Grammar's fine, and even if you did assume it to me meaning he was "never out," it still means... he was never out. And that's because... he was never out.

We're talking about controversial endings, whether they be robberies, close decisions by judges, or bad decisions by refs. It was a conversation I didn't start, and it was one I backed up with public opinion, not my own, so the controversy still stands. But somehow it's personal to me cuz I disagree with it after you questioned my disagreement with it and tried to just completely invalidate it.
Want validation?

Early stoppage but Dodson would've fucked him up in like the next 10 seconds if the fight had continued.
bad stoppage
Bad stoppage. Herb Dean jump in too early. He didn't even give him a chance to defend himself.

Weak stoppage IMO
I agree -
He was never out cold and never stopped defending himself.
yeah he was still fighting, he knew where dodson was etc

I think the stoppage was a little premature, TJ was rocked but he was recovering and going for that single leg.
It was early. He got clipped and instantly recovered without taking much damage. Bad stoppage, imo.
This is pretty universally considered a bad stoppage. I get the safety issue but getting dropped is not grounds for stopping a fight and he wasn't wobbly after he got up.

http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/tj-vs-dodson-premature-stoppage.2748671/
I can't help but think that this stoppage was a bit premature. TJ was definitely hurt, but he was totally conscious and scrambling for a takedown when the fight was stopped.
Always thought it was premature.
Premature for sure
I mean, yeah, everybody was saying that when it happened. Doesn't mean he wasn't about to get beat down even more, but they should have at least given him a chance.
Like I said, it was pretty well criticized by everyone. I have other sherdog examples, if you'd like.
that's a TKO and it was an early stoppage, he lost equilibrium not consciousness

TJ wasn't a great striker back then, and it was a shit stoppage to boot.

Dodson hits hard, Tj was very green, everyone loses, and it was a horribly early stoppage.

TJ-Dillashaw/ John Dodson stoppage

terrible

cost TJ the TUF final his other two losses are both splits as well so he was pretty close to still being an undefeated champ.

vVv And here's a guy who is defending Herb Dean about early stoppages vVv
Besides Dillashaw/Dodson and Faber/Barao name one other "early stoppage" in the past five years.

But nah, you're right, I guess it's just me and my personal investment

This means Lomachenko is the goat. He toyed with TJ in the gym.

Nobody doubts Loma is a better boxer. He is one of if not the best boxer in the world. As a specialist and an elite one at that, of course he schools an MMA fighter in one area of their game. However TJ has kicks, clinch fighting, wrestling, submissions etc. Far more diverse game and is high level in each, flows incredibly well between them.

Yeah Dillasnake is awesome, he is very creative and crafty in the striking, has good hands and very good head kicks, good footwork etc etc. He also has very good wrestling and his TDD is one of the highest in UFC. I'd definitely favor him to beat Mighty Mouse, Dillasnake is much better in the striking in my opinion. I was happy when he beat Cody neck tramp stamps, he is so unlikable.
