New Korean MMA News and Discussion

Damn, all the Korean talent in the UFC has fizzled out! Only DHC, KZ, and DHK are left. :(

Anyone know the results of Angel's Fighting 5?

Maestro has two straight wins...

I think a lot more Korean talent will start staying at home or in the Eastern hemisphere to fight. UFC has shown no intent to go back there since their successful 2015 show, and rarely books the Korean talent they have, or when they do, they squander them in bad matchups. Opportunities are growing back home or nearby that they don't have to go around the world if they don't want to.

If KZ hadn't gotten injured again this year, I think the UFC would've pushed for another event in Korea with him as the main event.

Very. Looks like he had a bunch of fighters out for dinner tonight. He also sent out a picture on Instagram of himself in front of either the Road FC office or Road FC gym, saying "my last time here tonight."

Just seems very sudden. I hope it's not a preemptive thing.
Yeah hopefully he just felt he did all he could do for the promotion or something

I might have asked this question about Road before but here goes:

From Jan 25 to 31 they are having a show each day, what is this? The tourney?

They put out a yearly schedule but it got messed up so the editor for Korea just pushed all of them back until a new one is set for 2018

Goofy translation was "last time I'm here today."

Hope he leaves the company in capable hands.

Doesn't he also own a big construction business?

Hae-In Kim is participating in the Chinese Kung Fu Championships this week. http://roadfc.co.kr/main/news/news_view.php?key=JTI1MjUzREV6TTFFVE0=

Road FC has apparently entered into an agreement with a mobile accessories company. Road FC brand phone cases likely coming soon.

This is from a month ago, when the TFC president mentioned he wanted to work on an event with Road FC next year.

Soo Chul Kim announced his retirement.

I kind of feel like this is in preparation for military duty but maybe he's actually serious about retiring.

<Kpop01> Disappointing news, to say the least.

in other news, al three Korean fighters who fought at Deep 81 impact lost their bouts. Important note: the experience factor was extremely skewed towards the Japanese fighters.

Next event for Angel's Fighint has a date:

Only 8 or 9 events next year, which is a step back. However, they plan to travel to Japan and/or SE Asia, which is a step forward in expansion.

A Chinese language version of the "Fearless Guys" show will be produced.

A women's openweight tournament will take place.

Monon Hong Jung will step into competition in a special charity fight. details TBA.

Jae Woong Byun returns to take on Yuki Motoya at DEEP 82 Impact. Byun is far less experienced but should have a good size advantage and beat Imanari his last time out. Fun to note that Byun is from the same gym that Doo Ho Choi got his start in and seems to be taking a similar career path (though Byun is getting further into the deep end even quicker)

Gi Bum Moon is also returning in the same event against Takuya Oyama.
