Mayor Cries After City Council Member Denies Her ‘White Privilege’

Ugh, the level of cringe is literally painfull

No doubt. It's bizarre that some people are trying to claim this is just rage porn. This is the reality of what we're going to increasingly have to deal with and need to be aware of. No way to defend it so have to call it rage porn apparently.

The peanut gallery here doesn't understand the significance.

This is real mental illness, on display for all to see, penetrating our political system from the ground up.

I can totally see this stuff spreading. We had a group try to turn our little town into a sanctuary city using a few sympathetic city council members. It was a underhanded attempt that got exposed and than caused a huge rift in the community.
Sad thing is that when people resisted they used all this crazy language of people being bigots and insensitive bla bla bla.
Totally needless and destructive event. I don't know one "bigot" or nazi in this part of the world.
This is some real shite. It got close to this crazy level seen in this video and the rancid residue still hangs in the air.
It's One reason I hate this sjw crap. The teaching is partly responsible for this poor ladies mental state.

Dozens of residents turned out to provide public testimony at the Feb. 27 Homer City Council meeting.

Homer City Council heard a resolution on Monday that would have officially expressed the town’s commitment to fighting discrimination and maintaining a safe, inclusive city.

Over 100 people packed into Cowles Council Chambers and overflowed into the lobby, waiting to testify on a controversial resolution promoting inclusivity.

The resolution, which was co-sponsored by Council Members Donna Aderhold, Catriona Reynolds and David Lewis, cited recent violence targeting religious groups, minorities, and the LGBTQ community.

It also officially rejected discrimination against any group with regard to “race, religion, ethnicity, gender, national origin, physical capabilities or sexual orientation” and expressed a commitment to creating a safe, inclusive community.

The Council rejected the resolution in a 5 to 1 vote, with Council Member Reynolds voting in favor.

Saying that was one of the most racist things she ever heard was a bit of an exaggeration, but the mayor sounded pretty spot on to me. Just because someone doesn't know or admit they are being racist doesn't mean that they are not racist.

That woman's biases refuses to acknowledge that her race has afforded her privileges that others do not have...that is racist. I am a little surprised, because you would think most women would understand this pattern of discrimination since it closely resembles sexism, and every other -ism out there.

Choose one.

A society that was established through colonisation and power. The one that affords you the living standard that you no doubt enjoy.

Or.

Third world poverty.

One comes with a certain privilge.

The mayor is nothing more than some post menopausal fruitcake.

She isn't even shaking and crying because she's upset, she's shaking and crying because she's angry. That's how toddlers behave.

Racism is a contagious mental illness, which is why the woman in the video and most whites can't diagnosis this.

I have to agree with @waiguoren here. I'm not in China, but the Chinese here treat blacks like shit. Every word they have to say to a black person sounds like they're talking to a dog. Many, but not all Indians I've met are the same - they talk down to black people, and their disgust is almost palpable.

@Jake the Muss sounds sheltered or dishonest.

Well that is your experience of Chinese living in South Africa. I've had friends come back from SA who became more racists towards blacks then when they left. That should tell you something about your culture. If you treat people like shit, don't be surprised that they will try and kill you and your family.

What is surprising is that blacks have more in common with Asians than they do with whites. In face to face situations, especially if they speak a common language. They just get along better.

Namibia too, actually. Got an excuse for Chinese nationals in Namibia treating Namibian blacks like shit?
Your friends being racist doesn't really tell me anything about my culture, but it tells me something about you.

Did your racist friends treat the SA locals like shit? Is that why they ended up with a bad impression of the locals?

They really don't and the only reason you think that is a lack of exposure. Maybe you shouldn't be mocking white Americans for their narrow worldview.

There is no excuse. Listen, you could be a SA going down to the deep south in America, and think the white locals are a bunch of underdeveloped monkeys. Having a inferiority/superiority complex isn't exactly our most beloved human quality, and it shouldn't be celebrated as some shining example of morality.

I don't know. He just acted more superior when he came back. He had a heightened sense of arrogance and ignorance. It was a huge turn off. I stopped hanging out with him.

I have lived in several countries. You are being arrogant, ignorant, condescending, dismissive; all the while you are wrong, and that's the problem. You don't even know that you are wrong, and you don't even know how to act like civilized. SA could've been great, but white SA's weren't smart enough to know how to integrate the black locals...that says something about your people and their lack of leadership abilities.

I've spent a lot of time in China and have numerous Chinese and Indian colleagues with whome I've discussed this topic. You have completely invented a fantasy narrative here. There is not less racism in Asian countries, there is WAY more - and it's culturally acceptable. If I'm to give you any sort of benifit of the doubt, it would be to guess that you may be perceiving the total lack of consternation over racism and extrapolating that it isn't present.

Lol. I have read like three of your posts in this thread and you have mocked white americans for being ignorant of the world, blamed your friend's racism on black South Africans, insulted everyone in South Africa (while illustrating your deep ignorance of the country) all the while denying the fairly well-known, common knowledge reality that, aside from the Japanese, most Asian peoples generally hold negative racial biases towards black people... And after all that, you're going to whine like a petulant child about my arrogant condescension toward you?
:)

Of course I am condescending toward you; you're an idiot who's either a liar or a terrible judge of character.

I never said that racism wasn't present in Asia. It is present in every country.

Asian countries don't have the legacy problems that Westphalian countries do, so in the moment, Asians are more receptive to having relationships with people of color. Meaning those racists beliefs dissolve quicker after the initial interaction.

You can't say the same in the states, where everyone is compartmentalized and anchored to stereotypes, where just the mere presence of a black person triggers a fight or flight response.

Everything you just paraphrased is accurate, so let's not get all emotional.

You mean the persecution mania that causes some white people to search the far corners of the Internet to find randoms who they think are disrespecting them, right? What can we do to help these people?
They are only “random” when it goes against the left I have noticed. But some whacky trump support or alt right person are never random and is talked about seriously right ?

No, people just don't start threads about random wacky right-wingers. There isn't an equivalent left-wing media apparatus looking around for random videos to scare voters into supporting unpopular policy.

I'll admit that it surprises me that you admit that you blame racism against black people on black people, but it hardly makes me emotional.

Reverse racism is still racism

This is 2017 ffs Why the vid look like its in the 90s

No wonder all libtards act the way they do I mean this is their leader.
