Man I suck, but glad I went. Rolled with a bunch of white belts so at least no one knows I suck. Tried to put myself in bad positions and work out. tired.

Lower back was feeling really tight before the last 5 sets of doubles. Waited/stretched for another 5 mins or so, but it wouldn't loosen up so I called it a day. Other than that, deadlifts felt fast & pretty good, except for my grip. I guess the gripper work I've been doing for last 6 days (haven't been logging) has really affected my grip. I was struggling to hold a double-overhand grip at 225. Another 100 reps with the grippers planned for later today as I drive to San Diego for work.

Wanted to bench today but walked in the gym at 5:08am & all the benches were in use. I go to such an old guy gym - it's packed at 5am & empty at lunch. Anyway I did Shoulder stuff instead. All assistance was supersetted between sets of press and then bench. Did a better job with the DB raises & stuff, shoulders were fried by the time I started working bench. Good workout today.

Good workout, but I went to the gym a little late today & started getting emails & texts from work which kinda killed my vibe. So I didn't finish everything, got out of there & got to work.

Also, looks my wife is getting me a package of 10 private jiujitsu lessons for christmas. This is awesome, I'll be able to really work closely with my jiujitsu professor and create a plan to get my black belt. Stoked.

Good workout this morning. Press & bench both felt pretty good. Supersetted assistance between sets of Press & Bench. Still doing gripper work, planning 125 reps with the CoC #1 throughout the day today. ALSO, unless something comes up at work I'm hitting my 1st jiujitsu private lesson today at 4pm. Should be fun.

Had my 1st Private lesson tonight. good stuff. Spent most of the time drilling guard recovery. Professor's giving me 12 for the price of 10 - even better! What a great Christmas present from the wife!

I wrote up some stuff - what's working, whats not - he's going to create a plan for the next 10 privates. really looking forward to it.

Decent class tonight, got a lot of sparring in, which I needed - conditioning is terrible.

Supersetted some dips in but basically just did bench today. Hit an easy single at 275, probably should have got at least 2 reps, but I'm pretty happy with this.

BJJ Private lesson

2nd lesson tonight, good stuff - did some awesome hip movement & guard retention drills, then worked on more guard stuff & then specific training working on retaining guard & getting back to closed guard. My instructions for sparring in the normal classes are to get to closed guard - work from there to sweep, then progress to mount. No subs until I get mount.

Heading to Mexico for the weekend. Work has been trying to crush my soul so I'm gonna crush some tequila for the next 3 days.
 
I think last time I was on here you were a blue belt. Congrats on the promotions. Though you're a lot weaker than I remember...but so am I. ;)

3rd Private - worked on guard retention & side control escapes. Tied them together. Did some cool specific training, 3 minute rounds. 1st Round was guard retention, 2nd round side control escapes, 3rd round was allow my guard to get passed (but don't allow established side control) & then start sparring. Did 4x3 min rounds.

Went for a run/walk down the beach path today, really need to work on my conditioning.
2.73 mi, 35:24, Avg HR 135BPM

Walked the 1st & last 5 minutes. Also walked anytime my HR was above 160. Didn't push it too hard, just wanted to get out & move. I got a free Apple Watch because my daughter's BF got a new iWatch 3. So I've got his old iWatch 2 - its pretty cool. Was able to play music & track the workout without having to carry the phone. Jiujitsu later tonight.

BJJ - 1.5 hours
worked on some self-defense & guard stuff. 30 minutes of sparring. Was super winded but was able to use some of the guard retention & recovery stuff from the private lessons. Have a long way to go.
