So a certain stable genius attacked his own White House on foreign surveillance policy after watching "Fox and Friends"...

President Donald Trump on Thursday criticized the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, hours after the White House press secretary released a statement saying the administration supported the law and opposed an amendment that would impose limits on it.

"'House votes on controversial FISA ACT today,'" Trump tweeted, referring to a chyron earlier Thursday on "Fox & Friends," the Fox News morning show he often watches and praises for its coverage of him.

"This is the act that may have been used, with the help of the discredited and phony Dossier, to so badly surveil and abuse the Trump Campaign by the previous administration and others?" he continued.

On the show, Judge Andrew Napolitano, a frequent Fox News contributor, said: "Mr. President, this is not the way to go. Spying is valid to find the foreign agents among us. But it's got to be based on suspicion and not an area code."

Trump's tweet appeared to contradict the statement that the White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, released on Wednesday night signaling the administration's strong support for FISA.

... he then walked back his statement once someone told him how stupid it was.

Trump's opposition, though, didn't last long. Later Thursday morning, he posted a follow-up tweet clarifying that he has sought changes to the law and voicing support for the surveillance program.

"With that being said, I have personally directed the fix to the unmasking process since taking office and today’s vote is about foreign surveillance of foreign bad guys on foreign land. We need it! Get smart!" he tweeted.
It was an apparent attempt to get back on the same page with his own administration, which backs the so-called 702 program up for renewal in a House vote Thursday.

Also, if you want to read more about Trump's viewing relationship with Fox and Friends, check out this article: https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/01/05/trump-media-feedback-loop-216248

It’s no secret, of course, that the president likes to tweet about what he sees on TV. Thanks to diligent reporting from the White House beat, we know Trump often watches several hours of cable news each day via the “Super TiVo” he had installed at the White House. And journalists at CNN, the Washington Post, New York magazine, among others, have compiled lists of Trump tweets they believe were inspired by Fox.

But here’s what is shocking: After comparing the president’s tweets with Fox's coverage every day since October, I can tell you that the Fox-Trump feedback loop is happening far more often than you think. There is no strategy to Trump’s Twitter feed; he is not trying to distract the media. Heis being distracted. He darts with quark-like speed from topic to topic in his tweets because that’s how cable news works.

Here’s what’s also shocking: A man with unparalleled access to the world’s most powerful information-gathering machine, with an intelligence budget estimated at $73 billion last year, prefers to rely on conservative cable news hosts to understand current events.

...

Many of the president’s most vicious tweets, which often baffle observers because they seem to come out of nowhere, make more sense when you realize that they are actually his responses to Fox’s programming.

...

But not all of the Trump tweets match with Fox segments that praise the president and thrash his perceived enemies. There are some random ones, too.

Remember that strange moment in October when Trump tried to tweet happy birthday to the country music artist Lee Greenwood? He tagged the wrong handle, deleted the tweet, and sent out a corrected version while the rest of Twitter tried to figure out what was going on. The event is easier to understand if you know that about an hour before Trump sent his initial tweet, Fox & Friends reported it was Greenwood’s birthday:

He then tweeted a Quinnipac poll which recorded extremely high satisfaction with the economy...

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...le-voters-opinion-us-presidents-a8153346.html

Donald Trump has hailed a poll that suggested two thirds of Americans are happy with the country’s economy, but did not mention it also found that more voters hold Barack Obama responsible.

In the second of the US President’s customary early-morning tweets on Thursday, he said: “In new Quinnipiac Poll, 66% of people feel the economy is ‘Excellent or Good.’ That is the highest number ever recorded by this poll.”

However, the former reality show star chose not to highlight a separate finding from the survey, which indicated 49 per cent of Americans believed Mr Obama was more responsible for the current US economy compared to 40 per cent who thought the Republican deserved most credit.

The figures showed the proportion of voters crediting Mr Trump’s predecessor for the state of the economy has grown steadily from 43 per cent two months ago.

... not mentioning that the poll quite clearly showed that the public credits the approval of the economy to Barack Obama. The poll even shows that the longer Trump derps up the White House, the more the public is inclined to credit the sturdy economy to his predecessor.

Earlier, Trump had bragged that his powerful negotiations with the Democrats were so successful that news anchors were sending him letters of congratulations. When pressed for proof of this by Jim Acosta, The White House released a list of two CNN videos and 19 tweets, some of which merely stated the sentiment that Trump didn't entirely shit the bed.

And, because I don't know any other thread to put it in, Carrier laid off another 215 people yesterday. Since Trump announced his ridiculous Carrier deal as a publicity stunt in the election, the company has laid off 600 workers, almost 40% of its workforce, despite the incredible amount of money the state funneled their way to provide Trump and Pence with a photo op. It's going to lay off 700 more workers later this year, moving the jobs to Mexico.

This reminds me of the companies that fired hundreds of workers as they gave their workers "tax cut bonuses" to hype Trump's tax cuts.

Trump and Hillary are both enemies of the American people. We never truly have a choice to elect someone that will represent the people. The system is designed like this for a reason. These nonstop partisan threads are retarded.

Judge Napolitano looked right at the camera and basically addressed Trump as if he knew he was of course watching. Fox News is President of the United States.

So hes a derp for drawing attention to unconstitutional activity?

I saw derp in the title and thought of this

I voted for Trump twice. This is a non-partisan thread.

Remember when George W couldn't name leader of Pakistan? No me neither really b/c of Trump's daily buffoonery.

Yes. When he doesn't realize that his administration supports it and then, once informed, he changes his tune to support it. That's practically the definition of derp.

You made an assumption that he wasnt in the know.

doesnt that make you a derp?

im open for suggestion here but time and time again trump plays both sides to the conversation in his favor.

if cnn covers this as trump being a derp it makes obama look illegal while trump looks like the victim : trump wins

lmfao no, he doesn't. Time and time again he doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.

Only one is in power and has a large base of support touting him as a savior to the american people. If Hilary is in that position, make all the threads highlighting how terrible she is you want, they'll be welcomed.

If you read that and can't automatically tell the guy was correcting himself after doing something stupid, you're not living in reality. And suggesting he was "playing both sides"? What sides are those? The Fox side and the 'his administration' side?

FISA itself has nothing to do with this clown tweeting about shit based on what he sees on Fox unaware that it's in conflict with what his administration had just said.

Trump lauded delivery of F-52s to Norway. The planes only exist in ‘Call of Duty.’

The Voters Abandoning Donald Trump
According to previously unpublished findings, the blue-collar whites at the core of his coalition have lost faith over his first year in office.

17 ex-missile officers have asked congress to curb "petulant" and "foolish" Donald Trump's control of the nuclear arsenal.

It's the TS's shtick. Didn't care about Obama signing the NDAA or continuing to torture but freaks out over Trump getting an extra scoop of ice cream.
