i decided to become a democrat sadly

Thinking people are independents, and thus can leverage their votes to whatever party that aligns with them on any given policy.
I don't buy this. Thinking people can closely align with one party or another if their positions are well thought out and fairly consistent over time it is easy to see thinking people aligned with either major party.

There is simply no need to take part in some absurd dualism like the two party system. Forcing politicians to actually fight for your vote is vastly important in any representative republic.

But the majority of people do actually end up pretty closely aligned with one of the major parties. And btw, I'm not arguing that we wouldn't benefit from more parties.

Also, you're changing the subject. Remember that your other post claimed thinking people are independent and that's wrong. There are many intelligent, thinking Democrats and Republicans. And I'm not claiming that there are no thinking Independents, but in my experience most of them do actually closely align with a party and the ones that truly don't are usually totally fucking clueless about politics.

Someone who feels very strongly about liberal values will vote D and one who feels very strongly about conservative values will vote R (exceptions exist of course, but generally speaking). And this is true regardless of intelligence or how well informed they are.

I concede, I was engaging in a little hyperbole on the thinking people bit. However, looking at both parties in principle and practice, I think forcing them to fight for votes they know are not guaranteed is the informed, measured way of electing those whose policy you agree with, and more important, voting them out when they fail to back their principle with practice.

I agree with that very strongly, but we probably disagree on how to do that. I do think another party or two could do some good (possible to do a lot of harm too) but we can make the politicians fight for us by actually exercising our right to vote!

I think I know what you need to read and research about TS. Socialism! Like myself I'm left leaning even though the right here is more centered than anything. Good job on denouncing the ugly right in the US. Jebus bless.

Lets get rid of these republican scumbags. tbh i hate what both parties do. But i roll with the punches. I have always said i would have voted for bernie because he talks to people like they are human beings while clinton and trump talk about us like we are numbers on a paper.

Wtf you were a Trump supporter?

For all the warts in their parliamentary system, England has got it right. The entire election process lasts 6 weeks.

Just about everyone has it right. Most countries have candidates campaigning for a couple of months, tops.

But as usual, campaigning itself has become an industry here.

But Bern's not a dem and hates the party.....in fact, they stole the election from him. Bern was the best candidate in years, but he realized 'the system is (so) riggged" that you had to run in two party format to have a chance and the dems stole it, while the RNC gave the equivalent to outsider Bern, Trump, the nod instead of stealing it. The repubs are more ornery and honorable, tho both parties are corrupt with cancer.

Understand what your saying about both parties but the way bernie talks to people is insulting.

He paints with a big brush using words of class envy, "the greedy one percent, their greed has no end" it's pathetic.

It also happens to be true, useless eater.

This video should be posted in every thread on income inequality.

Any person who chooses to be a republican or democrat is a fucken retarded person and that’s the main reason why this country is slowly going to shit.
You play loyalty to a political party without even thinking what the candidate will do to benefit your town, county, state and country the most.
If your party puts a damn raccoon as the next candidate you will blindly vote for it cuz you are loyal to them not matter what whit out thinking about the consequences.

I have always been fiercely independent but I would be lying if I didnt admit I tend to back the dems much more lately
