fighters missing weight by a couple of lbs? LOL

Imagine being in the military, getting shipped to the Middle East, and refusing to fight an ISIS dude, because he has 25 lbs on you. LOL

MMA is just a sport. The sooner it is promoted as such, the better for its future.

If you cant bite someones nose off, its not a real fight

Sure Yoel deserves a break, but open weight all the time?

<{cruzshake}>

Its not a fight unless somebody gets their eye gouged out and their testicles ripped off.

Does TS think people in the military fly to iraq to square up with militants and engage in hand to hand combat?

They have these things called weapons.

You never know when you have to use your natural weapons.

A fighter missing weight means he was physically incapable of cutting any more. We have no idea how much more weight the other guy (Rockhold, in this instance) could have potentially cut. So while it was 2 pounds on the scale, it may have been 10+ pounds in the cage. And 10 pounds of lean muscle is a massive difference.

In the military (for the US at least) you do have to maintain a certain weight for your height or you get booted out.

Very rarely in the military, if at all. You're completely correct that MMA is just a sport. But most soldiers who've seen combat have never engaged in unarmed combat. Hand to hand combat, to the very minor extent its part of basic training, is used as fitness/toughening up exercise.

Having weight classes is how it got sanctioned and became popular.
