Rumor: DEADPOOL 2 Test Screenings Are Poorly Received [Updated with New Info]

Test screenings are always hit or miss (Suicide Squad received a standing ovation) and aren’t normally a reflection of what the finished product actually is. Unless it’s awful, in which case there’s really no saving the film at all.

So far, the comments on Twitter have pointed to Deadpool 2 being pretty bad. It all started when blogger Jeremy Conrad posted the following update:

“Fox screened Deadpool 2 tonight (not Dark Phoenix again) and….yikes! First reaction wasn’t what I expected to hear.”

He also added that the film is 30 minutes longer than the first one, the plot is lacking and the character of Vanessa is wasted. Fox was quick to threaten legal action against him for these comments if he didn’t remove the Tweets so, unsurprisingly, he did.

The studio failed to remove all the comments, however. Another Twitter user, Mike Kalinowski, posted saying that Deadpool 2 is “testing really poorly. They are stunned with what the screening audiences are saying. I know people don’t say much about it but, you CANNOT underestimate Tim Millers contribution to getting Deadpool made. He was 1/2 the equation”.

Meanwhile, Robert Burnett put his thoughts on Twitter saying “From my perspective, with what I’ve heard, they’ve made a HUGE, ALIEN 3 blunder with the story”. Fox’s problems just get worse as other, since deleted, Tweets from various users pointed out similar issues.

Earlier today, we heard that the first test screenings for Deadpool 2 had been something of a disaster and that significant reshoots were set to take place as a result. Well, it's now been made clear that the information was inaccurate and the source was far from reliable, while a number of other reporters and outlets have also weighed in to clear things up. As a result, fans can seemingly stop worrying!

Well, mostly. According to Marvel Studios News, they've heard multiple accounts from people who have attended a Deadpool 2 test screening who loved what they saw, while Collider E-i-C Steve Weintraub points out that the scores from these screenings are high and each managed to do over 90.

Marvel Studios News, meanwhile, notes that the only explanation they can come up with for why some fans in attendance have slated Deadpool 2 is because they've heard about something in the movie which "sounded rather brilliant" but "may bother some fans." They don't divulge more details because it would be considered a big spoiler.

"Fans will love" this thing I haven't seen.

Go Collider.

From what I can tell, "Alien 3 level blunder" equates to being more serious than popcorn flick. I'm down with that so long as its coherent and not preachy.
I thought "alien 3 level blunder" meant that the antagonist was a dog.

I literally just found out there was an award for hair styling
Yeah, was a humorous article I read when it happened about how no marvel movie had won an oscar, and yet the terribly rated suicide squad had won one. Was tongue in cheek and made me laugh.

I tried to warn people.

list of things wrong;
Fox fires a director that loved deadpool
Fox says they have more involvement
fox throws more money at the film
Domino is not comic book accurate
a sequel

This movie will be shit

<WellThere>

Like JACK REACHER, DEADPOOL should have been terrible but by the grace of some god they were not. The sequels being hot-ass garbage seems like the correct thing.

But they, goddammit, they really should have made DEADPOOL 2 a musical. More than BABY DRIVER but less than LA LA LAND. Or more than LA LA LAND. You assholes should have given it to ME!

It wasn't nearly as bad as some made It out to be.
It was a 2016 movie starring Will Smith.

Marvel movies do well with quick hit humor.. In the teaser trailer where he changes into his outfit while the two guys fight and one gets wasted, it dragged on after the humor had ended. Like, it wasn't funny anymore. The Bob Ross bit had potential, but they botched that one a little too.

I liked the first deadpool quite a bit. I hope this one works. The blind lady holding the gun the wrong direction isn't that funny.. It's ok, but simple and cheap. There was some of that in 1, but it was also witty and clever.

Wait, what? He was in it? I thought it was the Harley Quinn show.
Will Smith gives off that 'retired porn star returning to the biz because she ran out of drug money and self-esteem' / 'retired mma fighter who ran out of money and couldn't do 9-5' vibe. Dead eyes, 2 week old reheated leftover gimmick acting. IMO.

Well deadpool is a comedy and most comedy sequels feel forced.

But i will still lol if deadpool uses this as a 4th wall breaker in the movie

Someone else said they wasted the character of Vanessa, which makes me think they kill her off early.

Sucks to hear. Hopefully it’s over blown and the movie still is good.
