Wanted to go ahead and create a thread to grab all the discussion into One (LOL) place since we have multiple thread on topics relating to them, and we don't really seem to have show discussion threads for them.

My opinions on todays card:

Amir Khan is always entertaining. Folayang fought someone who had nothing for him and was not very impressive. Aoki however was. Nguyen vs Lee might be the worst fight since Maia vs Woodley, and the lady Lee was lucky to retain.

Two title fights announced for their next card. Adriano Moraes vs Geje Eustaquio. They fought once like 4 years ago and Moraes subbed him. I expect that will happen again. The other is Jing Nan Xiong vs Laura Balin. Balin is an Argentinian fighter I have never heard of who hasn't fought in two years. Clearly she is being brought in as a can for Jing Nan Xiong to crush.

I think of all of the Evolve fighters, Amir Khan is a real standout and needs to be fighting better opposition to develop more. Lots of skill and heart.

I'm also big on Shannon Wiratchai.

Both should be moving up to the prelims of bigger leagues.

I love when they put their Thai guys in MMA fights. Very interesting.

I don't think much of their WMMA divisions. Too many bad fights.

If they want to burn money, they should hold more kickboxing fights which i think is much more popular and has a far deeper talent pool in Asia than MMA.

What happened to Eddie Ng, Shinya's stablemate, and Lowen Tynanes?

Lowen tynanses needs that title shot. I think he's injured or some shit. Eddie ng last fought in Macao I think. Not sure what's up with him atm.

Watching highlights on the local news, I saw the girls get to have sponsors on their shirts. Unfair. They should fight topless or let the men also where sponsors on rashguards.

Well that would be One way to get people to download the app!

Eddie Ng's been training with Duane Ludwig in Colorado. He hasn't fought since Aug 2016. Seems to be coaching a lot of the Evolve amateur fighters and Benedict Ang. He's very likable and relatively all rounded but seems to have hit a skill plateu. He's come up short everytime he fought tough specialists (Vincent Latoel and Ariel Sexton).

I forgot to mention that one guy who I could actually see in the UFC is MARAT GAFUROV. Dude is a beast. Would love to see him on TUF.

Who do you guys think is next for Nguyen? He is the guy with the most interesting fights to make in ONE.

At featherweight a Gafurov rubber match could be fantastic.

At lightweight both of the old vets Aoki and Folayang could have earned a shot at getting their belt back. Aoki looked way more impressive though.

I really hope they opt for the ring in future.
I'm quite sick of watching fights in a cage at live events...everyone I was sitting with last night spent most of the time looking away from the cage at the big led screen.

Gafurov is like 32 or 33 already. Forget TUF, you could jut throw him into the pool and see if he sinks or swims.

I would say based on recent wins Gafurov or Aoki. After yesterday, Aoki deserves that shot more than Folayang.

Also I much prefer mma in a cage. I think the ring can harm the flow of a fight too much. I do understand the view complaint though.

Did u no a couple yrs ago, Eddie ng actually got offered a UFC contract? He turned it down tho, kinda forgot why.

I think he turned it down because he is buds with Aoki who got an offer around the same time and they wanted to stick together and stay loyal to One.

Hey thanks for this thread. Yeah, I'm fine with posting stuff here. Regarding Lee vs. Yamaguchi yesterday, that was a very close fight. Only watched it once and thought the decision in favor of Lee is fair. If / when I watch it again I'm going to think about the 'overall score' throughout the fight, as it's my understanding after reading today that that is how fights are judged in ONE FC.

Was that around the same time UFC had a Singapore event and lowballed Shinya Aoki? The UFC overpays Hector Lombard & Giblert Melendez, but is stingy with long time LW submission ace Aoki.

Lol. I think it was.

Giblert Melendez

Never going to stop being funny!

Correct, One uses the whole fight scoring system which just makes things that much more confusing imo. I thought the 5th edged it for Yamaguchi, but I don't think it was egregious that Lee won.

Amir Khan beats a 3-1 and is somehow more entertaining compared to when Folayang beat a 11-0?
Khan's opponent was going for submissions on the ground and swinging for the fences in the striking.

It's difficult for Folayang to be exciting or even impressive when the opponent doesn't want to fight.

Maybe, maybe not.
Marat and Nguyen 1-1
Geje and Kairat 1-1
Morares and Kairat 1-1
