Buying a new watch; which brand(s) do you recommend?

Hey hey,

I'm interested in buying a new watch but don't know much about them. Seen some people here who talk about watches and seem knowledgeable so would like to hear your ideas.

Criteria:
  • Price range: $1000 - $5000
  • Good for small/thin wrists
  • Classy styling
  • Good for business or business casual wear (so no G shocks, etc)
  • A brand that is recognizable as valuable
So, what brands do you suggest I look at?
I own 2 breitling navitimers 1 Blue and 1 white. Good quality too.

Lot of watch threads on here lately.. this some troll/meme I'm not aware of?

Anyway I'm a Tag guy but when I say that I mean Monacos
You can piss a Monaco for your budget and it will turn more heads than anything else for that money
Get a colour one rather than the black
Can't recommend them enough
he has skinny wrists a monaco is the last thing he wants, those things are fucking huge.

Gots me some Breitlings too, love my Navitimer.
47mm Definitely not for a small wrist though

I don't use watches but think many of them look really nice and I spend quite some time looking at watches in the shops when I have time to burn.

Was surprised to find Breitling references only that late in the the thread. Their Navitimers have Indeed some nice models.

Hublot also has nice models, but the prices can go up really quickly

If you're in for budget range, quality, and value-for-money, buy Seiko.

If you're in for premium range, quality, and value-for-money, buy Seiko.

Is this some sort of running joke?

Why do we keep having watch buying threads and who the hell buys a watch anymore?
It's basically the only universally socially acceptable way men can accessorize without getting funny looks.

I'm totally a watch guy, and have a small collection, but I prefer watches in the $300-800 range with unusual designs, which is why I'm not trying to give TS any input ITT.

My most expensive watch is my Qlocktwo, by Biegert & Funk. The one I got was about $850. It tells you the time as people refer to it. Half past ten... Quarter after three...

Mine is in het Nederlands, though.

Love that Grand Seiko

cool people don´t spend thousands on watches

i'd spend somewhere between 50-500 if i were to get one. def not thousands.

also, a watch is classic. there is nothing wrong with tradition and classical style.

sometimes you might also be in a situation where it looks rude to whip out your phone so having a watch is good for those times

When I wear my watch I feel like a retard because I check the time all the time, at least on the smarphone I can have the excuse to check the msg.

Buy several fake Rolex watches. Nobody but you will know. There are many people who own fake Rolex watches and don't even know.
