After randomly hearing Der Kommissar by After The Fire for the thousand time I wanted to see how it performed back then. Astonishingly it only reached place 30th. This is the Billboard Year-End Hot 100 singles of 1983, and it is full of high quality music with real heart and creativity behind it.

As you can see mostly trash without soul or inspiration. Sad.

You should list some of the top tracks between 87-89. Its just as trashy but the upside of it was that it took time for people to sort out some of the trash and let some of the better tunes stand the test of time. You probably don't remember the shit they had like Kokomo, Every Rose has its thorns, Warrant etc

Pitiful.
At least 90 of those songs are complete and utter soulless shit. And it' s very bad that most are the same genre.

I legit have heard maybe one of songs in that modern list. There's plenty of good music to be found. It's just not in the mainstream.

I'm finding it overseas but it's likely the fault of the record companies in america not supporting real bands.

Japan is kicking ass in metal and hard rock and even pop but the Kpop has recently caught up to them.

India, austria, china, mongolia all have some pretty good bands.

With so many ways to find and listen to music nowadays it is surprising still so many people listen to mainstream garbage. I guess it proves it's definitely music for people not really interested in music.

Could you mention some names?
Because every time someone says something like this they name some fringe bands that don't present nothing really new or exciting.

Name the genre.

I'm not sure what "don't present nothing" means.

I agree with you, TS.

Two things:
1) I was extra depressed to find precisely zero good songs in the modern chart.
2) If you were bolding the good songs, you should have chosen every Hall & Oates and Culture Club songs!

What's the difference between a Michael Jackson song and an Ed Sheeran song. Both are lyrically basic and are performed by people with good voices and appeal to the most basic radio-friendly audience. Regardless of who is a better singer you can't say one is more creative than the other. At least Ed isn't a child molester. Kendrick Lamar is 10x more talented than Kenny Loggins and I could find more examples. I'll be honest theres some shitty music out there now but to dismiss it in it's entirety is ridiculous.

Music now sucks but the year the safety dance was number 2 was incredible?

When you compare Sheeran with Jackson you show how you don't understand nothing about music.

I'm not saying they have the same talent but they make music for the same type of people.

Edit: Also I'm siding with Rogan on the conspiracy that MJ's dad castrated him.

At one point i heard how people now think drake is one of the best rappers of all time.
I thought about killing myself for a bit.
Then i realized that this whole new generation is retarded and completely useless.
They are just gonna look for an AP for their phone that feeds them.

old music has more soul.. the pop music nowadays is
conserved again and again

Well, luckily it's far easier nowadays to go hunting for music that isn't mainstream.

With so many ways to find and listen to music nowadays it is surprising still so many people listen to mainstream garbage. I guess it proves it's definitely music for people not really interested in music.
Its for casual music fans who see music in the same veign as fast food.
