Why Nate Diaz is still ranked at lightweight?

More than 18 months without fighting. His last fight was a loss, at UFC 202, August 20.. of 2016.

If they're going to remove Cain and Ronda due to inactivity, Nate Diaz should be removed as well. He's ranked #8 and is occupying a active fighter's spot. Not sure how this journeyman and his almost .500 record are ranked ahead of guys like Chiesa, Vick, Iaquinta etc

This is an injustice that just can not stand.

Apparently Anthony Pettis did just enough to now be joint #8 with this inactive joke

with what happened over Paul Felder not being ranked so the NY commission not letting him fight khabib for the belt, nate isn't ever going to be removed is he, if it means he wont fight for a belt down the line (v either Tyron or Conor)

Nate's only fighting Conor, I think that's pretty clear. I doubt the fight with Tyrone was ever nothing more than fake news, as it should be.

Because the media members that are still left making rankings, all 14 of them, are pretty ridiculous. One of them, Andreas Hale, writes or wrote for Sherdog.

The rest, I don't know if I've heard of half of them. David Brown writes for the Cherokee Scout? What's the Cherokee Scout? Seriously, that's a question, I went to their website and it's "the local news and information source for Cherokee County, North Carolina." The dude wrote a recent Op-ed about a rooster dying. I'm not making that up. https://www.cherokeescout.com/opinion/david-brown-richard-roosters-last-crow

He's one of the 14 voices of UFC rankings - does he know MMA? If he's well-informed, and happens to be a sherdog poster reading this, please PM me so we can talk.
Shit, that rooster article is behind a paywall, LOL
Catchy title though.
The media driven rankings is absolutely diabolic, but what i find amazing is that the fighters constantly reference them with respect to their future matchups or aspirations. Despite a long history of the UFC not really taking them into account when matchmaking.
Key case in point - raging Al wanted a pay scale graded against the rank of the fighter he was facing.
Is there a better system? If so, what is it?

Because he is a natty LHW. So he'll be on the LHW rankings

First of all...most agree Diaz won BOTH McGregor fights. Nate was less than 10 seconds away from finishing McGregor AGAIN for 2nd time before Conor was saved by bell and Danas paid off judges.

2ndly Nate Diaz has fought more UFC fights than 99% of roster. He didnt take play it safe fights either...the guy has moved up in weight and been fighting serial killers since day one. Not even goat Rory MacDonald who is significantly bigger could finish him.

Most of the top 10 havent fought any where near the same equivalent level of competition nor anywhere the number of UFC fights as Nate Diaz.

3rdly he beat the biggest star this sport has ever seen TWICE. You beat the man...you become the man. Real simple.

Lastly and most importantly genius...Nate Diaz is by far one of the biggest draws in the UFC today. He is certainly 10 times the draw of any Brazilian fighter.
His fights are exciting and the dude pushes the needle every time do or die.

Not a fake play it safe UFC hype machine can fed fraud like most of UFC stars today.

Nate has never moved any needle...he just happened to fight the biggest ppv draw of all time....nate fighting anyone else, doesn't do anything...so he's not a needle mover in the slightest.

Nate Diaz is the definition of needle mover moron. Still salty cause he humiliated Conor twice huh?

Maybe you live in some alternate reality, but in this reality, conor only lost the first fight cause it was a weeks notice at a higher weight class...but given proper time to prepare for that weight class and that specific opponent, conor put an ass whoopin on nate...winning 85% of the fight....only time nate did anything, was at the end of a couple of rounds...while conor knocked nate on his ass 3x...busted up his leg and face...if judged today, it wouldn't even been close....

Same reason Siver became magically ranked as soon as he was booked against Conor and why Conor is eternally P4P/ranked despite not fighting.

Because it is a fucking circus with corruption clear as day.

Yeah... Diaz headlined 6 UFC main events before he fought Conor because he is not a needle mover. Stop just regurgitating what other people say.

Because if you search for the morons who make the rankings you would see that some of the MMA news websites these guys are attached are inactive for a long time.

He has a perpetual top 10 spot just like Condit

Condit is not ranked for a while.

Ya, and what numbers did they do? Nunes headlines ppv's also..yet she can't even do 100k for an event..dj headlines ppv's all the time, look how low his numbers are...

GTFOH. Conor was mere seconds away from being finished AGAIN by Nate. Even d diver Joe Rogan stated numerous times that he felt Nate Diaz won 2nd fight.

Fight ended with Nate mounting gased McGregor EXACTLY the same way first fight ended...only this time Conor was saved by bell and Danas hand picked paid off judges.

Salty casual.
