Smith will go in against Mexico’s Munguia at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“It’s a big fight for him, a tough fight, but it’s a fight that he needs,” Smith’s promoter Warren said recently.

Munguia is promoted by Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions, the company behind the co-promoted rematch between Saul Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.

“Obviously their minds have been on the Canelo-Golovkin fight,” he added.

“That’s been the problem with getting the date and getting the fight finalised.”

It is understood that the fight will be aired on HBO in the States, while BT Sport are expected to pick the clash up in the UK.

Machado (19-0, 16 KO) traded bombs with Jezreel Corrales last October until a short right hand put the Panamanian down for the count and earned “El Explosivo” the WBA super featherweight title. He faces #1 contender Mensah (31-0, 23 KO), who has never fought outside his native Ghana.

Andrade (25-0, 16 KO), famous for his inactivity and issues with management, won the WBA super welterweight belt last year and promptly vacated it to move to 160, where he beat the alarmingly large Alantez Fox by decision. Falcao (15-0, 7 KO) is a 2012 Olympic bronze medalist who’s been treading water for a while.

*surprisingly good under the radar card*

Andrade is out of this card. Promoter issues

Wouldnt suprise me if Liam Smith pulled out also, I think he gets stopped. Mensah vs Machado should be a nice fight.

Decent fight. We know Smith well enough to get a good idea of where Munguia is at.

Per the Nevada State Athletic Commission, here are the purses for the Golden Boy Promotions/HBO card on Saturday night in Las Vegas: junior middleweight titlist Jaime Munguia $200,000, Liam Smith $75,000, junior lightweight titlist Alberto Machado $100,000, Rafael Mensah $35,000

Jesus, Liam Smith $75k.

He really should have signed with Hearn when he had the chance. Another Warren fighter gonna end up broke when he finishes boxing.

That seems really low considering he fought on a Main Event against Canelo not that long ago.

Ouch

75k for Liam and 100k for Machado?

How is it that Machado isnt a star yet? He’s PR’s only champ and has the goods

But 200k for Munguia doesnt sound too bad for him
