Short notice fight, in a higher weight class fighting a tough dude in his home country with a hostile crowd, dude left it all in the cage. What's not to respect?

I do think Rory gave up in that fight. Obviously he wasn't faking being hurt but still...

I don't think he did. Remember after the fight was stopped the doctor came in the octagon and pressed a towel into Rory's nose to stop the bleeding and Rory passed out for a second. His nose was shattered
