My entire town is burning down.

Do fires keep getting worse or are people moving more into dangerous areas?

I keep hearing about fires in California since I was a kid, I wonder how expensive insurance must be for those areas with fire risks.

I hope my house survives, but the whole town is going up it seems. My whole life is in that home. At least my family and dogs are safe.

I don't know what to do. Fucking NorCal.

50,000 were evacuated. But the roads were so clogged people abandoned their cars and ran. I pray for as little death as possible.

Holy shit dude... no words man. Stay safe. Material things can be replaced.

I'd rather face another hurricane here than deal with a massive fire

So what happens now ?

Insurance pays out for everything ?

It's been my experience that insurance claims definitely do not cover everything. A large portion, but you are always left off much worse than before. Albeit, better off than no insurance.

Which side were you on, Calabasas or Agoura Hills?

5 towns . 50,000+ and most is gone. Fire people were escorting people. Not saving structures.
has anything been rebuilt from the last big wildfire? Do these people typically move back to the same town? Is the insurance process smooth and quick?

I own one pair of pants. They are stained with paint.

In all kidding, hope you and the wife will be ok, itll be rough 3mos dealing w insurance, but itll be ok

Lol, my wife is pregnant and we are homeless.

Goddamit

Nowhere to watch football this weekend

Aren't there areas where homeowners insurance doesn't cover wildfires? I thought I saw interviews where peoples homes burned and insurance didn't cover it.

Stay safe man, I'm glad your family and dogs are ok. Everything else is replaceable.

Will this affect your job?

Sorry to hear it and good luck sherbro.

I am literally shocked that no one has invented a spray on foam for situations like this where you have lead time that can completely encapculate the house and make it impervous to flying embers, which is the main flashpoint for these fires.

Sure the foam might be expensive and the clean up after too but you think you could get that priced into your insurance policy, which they would like, as it would prevent the entire house burning and that cost.

And yes I know that if the fires rage close enough, even with the foam, spontaneous combustion of houses would be possible, but most home fires are not in that densely treed direct areas where that is the case. Most start by embers blowing roof top to roof top.
