    Ride on lawnmower question?

I don't think John Deere manufacturers their own small engines. They have their name on engines made by others. Lawnmowers are designed to run at full throttle to keep the proper blade speed. To lessen the load you can run at a slower ground speed.

That’s it, I am DONE with Mountain Dew!

I'm old enough to remember when Mountain Dew went nationwide after Pepsi bought it in the 1960s.

I don't much care about the draft, I'm more interested in which undrafted players they pick up.

    Television Double language shows.

What really annoys me is documentaries where they have a person start speaking one language then go to a translation with the original person still speaking in the background.

    Television Double language shows.

With the technology available today viewers should be able to chose which they want. I've gotten accustomed to subtitles as many shows will have fucked up sound with music or other sound effects making it difficult to hear and I'm old so my hearing isn't so good through certain frequencies...

News Anyone have a HomeServe service plan.

Did you have to have a Union contractor or a licensed contractor? In some areas, it can become almost the same thing. If the electrical inspector was an IBEW member he might want to drum up business for his Union brothers. In some areas, only licensed electricians can do electrical work. I guess...

News Anyone have a HomeServe service plan.

Did you try calling the 800 number? I have been trying since Tuesday and finally got through today. The number takes me through an automated sequence of choosing to report a gas leak or electrical outage then directs me to their online services for everything else. If I stay on the line...

News Anyone have a HomeServe service plan.

I think that's what they count on is people who don't know better and trust it because of the origin. They don't understand what is actually covered or even what they have.

News Anyone have a HomeServe service plan.

My first thought was to call the electric company. Xcel doesn't really have a number to call or even an E-mail address that I could find. The phone numbers and web access they have are to report outages or check on outages. They are automated systems that use the phone number you call from to...

News Anyone have a HomeServe service plan.

Does anyone have coverage from this company? I received an offer that appeared to be from my electricity supplier, Xcel Energy, for a service plan for my electrical system and exterior water line at my house. This plan would cover the mast where the overhead electrical service connects to a...

Bizarre Cases of the missing and murdered

The blood found in the home of the man who was last seen with a missing woman whose dismembered remains were found has been determined not to be blood from the missing woman. The article doesn't say if it was human blood. If it was human blood, could it be some other person who was killed? If it...

Social Are intelligence and happiness tied together in any way? If you are highly intelligent, is it more likely that you’ll be more, or less happy?

Intelligent people search for solutions through education and soon realize that there isn't any way to fix the problems. Education and money don't lead to happiness. Many people who achieve wealth and recognition often search for happiness in alcohol or drugs and end up dying in the process.

Odd Question: How do you feel about couple's with Downs Syndrome having children?

I have relatives who care for a man with Down's syndrome. They started when he was 12 and he was about 40 the last time I saw them but he functions on about a 5 year old level. The wife of the couple is having medical problems now and they are going to have to quit as caretakers. To me, having...

Social Put friend on plane, died 12 hours later

Don't be too hard on yourself or your family. Did your brother ask anyone for help? It becomes very difficult for families to help a drug user. They don't know if money they would provide would be used for treatment or to buy more drugs. Are they helping or enabling? Many who use drugs keep...

    Men with nice Handwriting...

My penmanship has never been good. I had trouble reading my own cursive writing. With age, a condition that runs in my father's family, essential tremor, has made it nearly impossible to write and it has begun to bother me when typing too. It causes shaking of my right hand, sometimes violently...

Any body ever dealt with someone with dementia?

With dementia it's like you lose them every day. I took care of my father. I had to move in with him the last two years of his life. Dementia ran in his family and I'll probably have it too if I live long enough. He knew it was probably coming and had all of legal work ready like power of...
