OP's choice of thread title makes Smith sound like a dick. If you read the actual article he doesn't come off like that at all, and I'm far from a fan of his.
As others have said he had a more kick and knee centric style early in his career and didn't sit down on his punches as some other fighters do. He certainly has a lot of finishes overall, it's just different. Compare Anderson to Henderson and the kind of punches they threw, naturally Henderson...
When you look at the very top guys you have to account for some selection bias. Like Robert Whittaker gets called pillow-fisted from time to time, and although he might not be the hardest puncher he's certainly able to put guys out. It's more that the fighters he's facing are guys at the top of...
Been years and years since I saw it but I kinda remember it like Stann got lured into brawling with Wand where he could've kept it technical and won pretty handidly. With Cung it's not so surprising as he had a tendency to fade as fights went on
Not sure how he phrased but I can kiiinda see how Herb moving in as if he was stopping the fight then immediately backing away could throw someone off. Like if the ref moves in and does the timeout-gesture, that's a signal to stop fighting, regardless of whether you were the offender or the...
He's higher on the p4p rankings than the LW rankings :D
But what's the source of this list? It's not on the official UFC site as it's not updated at all yet
Counting just wins and disregarding losses Big Nog might have the best HW accolades overall, even better than Fedor
Bob Sapp when he was a killer
Kharitonov
Hendo
Ricco Rodriquez when he was 14-2
Cro Cop
Werdum
Mark Coleman fresh of the GP win
Barnett
Tim Sylvia
Couture (not prime)
Heath...
Honestly, I think we were just younger back then. Give it a few years people will be nostalgic about the Conor-era. Hell, when I started watching newbies used to be called "TUF-noobs". Now TUF is ancient.
O'Malley is a heel. Rubbing people the wrong way and getting them to root for his opponent is part of his appeal.
"The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference."
I get what the OP is saying, I just don't agree with the notion that GSP retired early just because he retired on a win. When he retired he'd been champ for 6 years and fought in 11 consecutive title fights.
