    News Chael Sonnen Retires..

It's interesting looking back on people's careers with time and retrospect. Some people's legacies age well, and others don't. I think Chael's will be looked up favorably. Entertaining of course. While his fights were sometimes boring, he was never afraid of anyone. And I don't care what...

Pre illness Brock was the scariest man to have ever lived in the world

He was great at some things and really bad at others. Looked great against Mir (figh 2) and Herring. Pretty good against Couture. Couture was older and smaller, but remember that most people are fighting bums in their local circuit for their 4th MMA fight, not Randy Couture. At the time, he...

    How fast was prime Fedor?

As others have said, in terms of pure physical performance, age is a thing. People peak in their 20s and it's a slow decline after that. Things like speed, reaction time etc. Those are hugely important in MMA and all sports, but of course they aren't everything. It's certainly possible that a...

Cain Velasquez has had 2 fights in the last 5 years.

It is a shame. I would argue that part of being genetically blessed for athletics is being physically durable., especially with any contact sport. Despite his skill, it seems his body just isn't cut out for the training required to stay at that level.

Fedor striking criticism with no bias...and the truth.

It's a different sport. Hunt couldn't take out Brock, even though he would've in about 3 seconds if it had been a boxing match.

Anyone else surprised at how coherent Chael Sonnen is despite all the head trauma?

Mir is the one I wonder about. He's taken some heavy shots and gone out cold from some big strong dudes, yet he still seems quite intelligent and articulate.

    This was Prime Fedor

His trainers said they noticed a physical decline around the Arlovski fight. He lost a step in terms of reflexes and speed, but that he was able to compensate with experience. Watching his fights, that's where it starts to go down hill in my eyes as well.

    Brock can't take a punch

People forget that Brock was the first ever to take Carwin to round 2, let a lone beat him. He can take a punch physically, just does not react well to it mentally.

    Don’t sleep on brock

I'm a huge Brock fan but he hasn't looked great against other wrestlers.

Brock Lesnar and SIZE does matter.

This. People often use Brock and heavyweights as examples, but I'd argue there are diminished returns past LHW. It's why Brock wasn't able to physically dominate Couture or Cain, and Why Fedor has been able to fight and beat so many people bigger than him. Once you pass a threshold for size and...

Wrestler vs Wrestler fights where one dominated in the wrestling department?

That seemed more like slight edge to Cain, which did allow him to dominate standing.

It's a shame Brock didn't have CM Punks' heart

As utterly abysmal as Punk was, at least he wasn't afraid of getting hit and didn't wilt upon the first ounce of contact. Take that and give it to Brock, and you have a potential GOAT.

Rogan: Track or football athletes would fight better than Punk in a few weeks. Easily.

He's right. For the Brock/GSP/Randleman/Jones types who are on one end of the bell curve, there's other who are on the other end of that curve, physically and athletically speaking. I genuinely think Punk is on that other end. He's never been impressive as a wrestler. You don't need a ton of...

Punk DESTROYS Sherdoggers in latest interview

Everyone who's ever done both has said that pro wrestling takes a bigger toll on your body.

What's the happiest Sherdog has been collectively after a fight?

I was gonna lean towards Ronda / Holm But I do remember this place being quite amped for Fedor / Sylvia as well.

    could chael beat fedor?

I have an extreme hard time seeing Chael winning in any way. He doesn't have enough power to hurt Fedor, so he either eventually gets subbed or KO'd.

What's the happiest Sherdog has been collectively after a fight?

Couture / Sylvia? Fedor / Sylvia? Cain / Lesnar? Holm / Rousey?

ESPN Interview: Ronda still won't acknowledge MMA losses

None of the stuff she did prior to the fights bothered me at all. The bad attitude, trash talking etc, etc. Whatever. She certainly wasn't the first. But handling losses like a baby is the #1 thing to make me sour on a fighter. Same with Forrest running from the octagon after the Silva fight...
