You totally should take it as a compliment. Pressure is an important part of Jiujitsu and wrestling. It is the same especially if you look at guys like JJ and Rigan Machado, Rickson, Sergio Penha and several others. Their top pressure is just other level.
I think it really depends on the blackbelt... under IBJJF rules a world class competitor in the gi might either submit or outpoint him. If it is just a regular black belt in masters 2 or 3 then I'd give this to Fedor all day.
Yes I think this guy also rolls at my school too! Just no chill, rips submissions, goes super hard with everyone regardless of skill level, size, gender and is an all around tool. This guy never wrestled either, in fact his wrestling kind of sucks. Hmmm.... maybe it is the same guy! lol
This is a very balanced and objective viewpoint of the whole gi/no-gi debate. I tend to feel the same way. I love both aspects of the game and I honestly feel that skills of one can lend itself to skills in the other. Although there are exceptions like you stated.
I completely agree! These things are definitely a factor when it comes to deploying the techniques drilled and used in training.
But jeezus.... can someone bring the Boston Crab to the octagon?????!!!!????
For the love of god.
This is spot on. I would work on controlling the legs and using pressure to immobilize hip movement. This always seems to work on lower ranking athletic dudes that play the modern game exclusively. A lot of them (not all) have a very rudimentary understanding of the fundamentals and will crack...
It has been scrubbed from the internet by Sort Of Funny enterprises, the Umbrella corporation and the douchey guy who shows off how much he makes constantly corporation. You can call it a conspiracy. Look into it.
Dude this killed me!!!!! The nipples part especially.
One of my training partners came from judo and had a Dax Mosquito when he first started BJJ.
That old thing was like a god dang torture device.
YES! I've noticed the same thing about Marcelo. Yes he does not have giant traps or the roided body of a prime Galvao, but he does have giant legs, a very strong core and those squeeze muscles. Functional musculature for grappling for sure. And I don't mean for this to diminish his technicality...
Oxyclean powder and tide detergent in warm water, rinse twice. On the first rinse I do normal and on the second rinse I throw in a lil Downey fabric softener. Last step I throw it in the dryer, or if weather permits hang dry. The trick is do not fold it up until it is completely dry.
He'd be really good, but doubtfully the best. There are too many really good bjj players with tons of experience. Maybe if he did master/senior worlds he'd do decent at whatever belt level he ends up ranking up to.
