I’m happy to see his judo background rather than his “sambo” background becoming the common narrative.
Although sambo does favor certain throws, sweeps, chokes, and locks, it is more of a ruleset for engagement of a fight. Fedor applied his world class judo hips to sambo competition. Much more...
Nog was an incredibly good hw with a long prime. He adjusted his game as he got older to substitute punching power for athleticism. He probably doesn’t have as good of a signature win as Stipe though.
It’s not an absurd take. Agree he would demolish Stipe, who couldn’t put together enough wins to get a title shot at that time. I think Fedor would look like the start of Cain/JDS2 except Fedor would punish him for the unsuccessful takedown attempts.
It’s not mmmath to compare the 2 versions of JDS that Stipe fought. He went tooth and nail (losing) to the JDS that had just absorbed 2 beatings from Cain. Then beat JDS only after Overeem had further degraded him.
Due to different reasons, the Werdum that beat Cain was not the same as the...
JDS won a close 5rd decision over Stipe AFTER JDS had been beaten twice by Cain.
Stipe did not beat JDS until he had been stopped once more (by Overeem).
His legacy is set as GLHWOAT and a 2-division champ.
If he wants serious consideration on HW all-time list, he would benefit from beating Stipe as well as a couple young bucks like Aspinal.
Shavkat’s charisma is in his fighting style and overall aura. I feel like I’m watching a reincarnated Sakuraba or something.
“Charisma” is a way for boring wrestle-boxers to try and compensate for being not really worth watching.
Goggins is an endurance athlete, he participated in some of the most renowned endurance events and finished very well. Seagal is a martial artist. Never competed in any martial arts tournament of any kind as far as I know.
