We have nearly identical picks.
Ngannou/Overeem
Nunes/Cyborg
Both great too.
How could i forget Fedor’s KO of Arlovski? If we include PRIDE I’d say my boy Mirko against Silva and Igor. Also the upset loss to Randleman was brutal.
Hard disagree.
Ronda was a media sensation, a ridiculous favorite (-1400), and undefeated. She got KTFO badly. It’s easily amongst the most prolific knockouts in UFC history.
Eye/Shev was nasty too. Nunes/Cyborg was nice as well.
Top 5 ? Not sure. Maybe.
Holly/Ronda
Gonzaga/Cro Cop
Hendo/Bisping
Masvidal/Askren
Barboza Kick
Edwards/Usman
Silva/Vitor
I’d say it’s in that elite group. There are probably a dozen or so that are wild.
Yeah. Put their HW resumes side by side. It’s a landslide win for Noguiera. If we factor in DC’s LHW resume, it’s definitely comparable but i’m still taking Noguiera, who at one point was recognized as the best fighter in the world.
Head to head is probably a very close fight but i’m taking...
Weidman had a good showing, relatively speaking. His gas tank was better and he took some stiff shots without folding. That said, he’s pretty old and incredibly shopworn for how few fights he has. That’s probably as good of a Weidman as we will ever see again.
The Rockhold beating took a lot...
Tbh the most headshaking performance for me was the Sylvia fight. Tim is big underrated on here. At his peak he was formidable for just about everyone and strung together a nice resume. He was properly beating the shit out of Noguiera up until the sub too. Everyone was picking Fedor without a...
I found his fight against Cro Cop to be even more impressive simply with how he did it. The Nog fights show a level of completeness we haven’t seen in a HW since Fedor.
If you scratch the close Henderson fight and Fedor doesn’t exist, i think Noguiera goes like 27-0 or something crazy.
Usman, Cruz, Nogueira, Hendo
Edit: your honorable mentions are good as well.
I think Big Nog is routinely slept on. If Fedor doesn’t exist he is a split decision loss away from being 28-0 and 7 years undefeated with some solid names to his resume. Of course, we could probably make a slight...
It’s a conversation that usually brings out our worst haha. I appreciate TS for selecting a compelling group of names outside of the usual Fedor/Jones/GSP/Silva discussion.
He ran roughshod the last couple years but retired smack dab in his prime. For that reason alone his placement in these discussions will always be polarizing. His level of dominance was incredible to watch, but part of greatness is also doing it routinely over time with everyone gunning for you...
Accomplishment wise, I’d put Khabib toward the bottom but I think he was the best of that lot. I can’t justify putting him higher as is. I’m probably all over the place with my picks because i’m using a combo of “eye test” and what they actually accomplished. All great fighters.
Mighty Mouse...
Not understanding the personal crusade with replies and tagging. I’m of course open to a discussion but nobody is arguing feelings here. That was a weird gas light. I just simply disagreed with the practicality of the premise and maybe i should explain why.
Could he put more power in his...
