Anyone have luck negotiating BJJ contract?

If he is going to give you a deal you better bring something to the table. He can, will and should send you to collections and gut your credit score if you choose not to pay. Anything he does should be considered a gift.

    Need help installing zebra mats

The mats are great, but I am having a really hard time getting them to line up. I have about 70 mats in a rectangle and in a few spots there are unacceptable gaps. So far I have reinstalled and gotten it slightly better by using a large mallet and 2x4 to force them to compress. Also I...

Two times to maintain, Three times to get better...

I think for the average person 3-4 days per week is a pretty good number. Of course it all depends on the individual situation but once a regular job, wife, kids and mortgage come into the picture anything more than the 3-4 days gets really tough. So I think more than that is totally...

    Toe hold injury

From a bruise to a sprain icing works well. Not sure when icing became "ineffective", but that is nonsense. Do I have a scientific study to back this up? No. I do, however, have lots of experience forgetting to ice an injury and regretting it. And yes, a toehold will break something on a...

Why would anyone try to mug Renzo Gracie?

Since I know peeps won't listen to the interview Renzo details how they grabbed him and stuck their hands in his pockets. Just because the tweets didn't mention it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

New kid asking about heel hook's

What you are missing is that at local grappling events ALL divisions are allowed to use heelhooks. Everyone should be taught heelhook defense from the beginning IMO with the first escape being the tap.

I see a lot of good advice here, but I don't understand why he needs to cut carbs? How do you know this is a deficiency? Is it assumed that everyone eats too many carbs? Just wondering.

Shawn William's solution to slow 50/50 matches...

I agree with this as well. If someone slaps on a heelhook you just got to tap fast. I've seen a few non-spinning escapes but there just doesn't seem to be enough time if the guy has decent positioning on you. Again, not that different than other submissions, just a little faster.
