What if Maeda had called it judo?

I'd assume it would still stuck with Jiu-jitsu as Brazil had a large japanesse imigration population at the time of Madea's arrival and the prefered term at the time. Madea also wasn't the first to teach Jiu-jitsu in Brazil either. Soshihiro Satake a Kodokan Judoka who traveled with Madea in the...

Got the green light to build a small garage gym!

If you are in the USA I've seen power racks, weights, treadmills, quite a few times just given away for free or selling for pretty cheap on craigslist.

    Dips Dips and More Dips

For now I do dips between my washer and dryer. It makes a solid dip station and I can adjust the width perfectly. Because of that I have to use I guess its called a reverse grip/ Gironda dips and for me personally nothing has ever hit my chest harder. I have not had any shoulder issues, but I am...

    Shin locks

Hulk Hogan legit had is leg broken with a shin lock by Hiro Matsuda. He it explained it happened extremely fast. Granted there is no remote level of grappling kill involved with Hulk Hogan , but it does hurt more than you might think, even for just a pain move. That video also isn't a good...

    Schools in Cincinnati

I'd go with Son of Siam, since they are the closest right now. If you are wanting to do kjust ickboxing more than MMA they compete regularly and do well. I have no real experience with JGMMA but I never heard anything negative about them. If you move to Clifton Vision MMA is in norwood and had...

    Schools in Cincinnati

What part of Cincinnati are you in or nearby? Son of Siam has solid Muay Thai, but is in Erlanger KY. If you are closer to West Chester check out Sacan. Their instructor is Neal Rowe. He was trained by Sakeson Janjira, and affiliate school. Him and Samart come out for seminars occasionally. He...

    Tightest hamstrings ever!

For what its worth all the hamstrings stretches, and foam rolling didn't do much for me. When Is started stretching my hip flexors its quit pulling on my pelvis which was I guess was the root to making my hamstrings and low back constantly tight to begin with. Might be something worth looking...

Does anyone of you do Calisthenics? What's your opinion?

if you go into doing calisthenics I think having a specific goal is a great motivator and way to mark your progress since your not counting numbers on weights. One of my goals was I wanted to be able to do strict feet together 1 arm push ups.I found a program that was based on 10 steps...

Anyone here a fan of the straight left?

In June fan Jeet kune do, the whole stance and structure is designed roughly around being able to deliver "the straight lead" as they call it, and will argue the differences on why its not a power jab. I have had some formal training with JKD guys though I am by no means a JKD guy just have a...

Doing kung fu to get some variation between fight sessions.

I agree with you. As long as you have a grasp on full contact and what you are getting yourself into and aware of the shortcomings, I think it would be a good way to get out of a rut. I personally would love to learn wing chun. I seen plenty of videos of wing chun guys getting beat up, and...

    What Is A Sugar Hold?

It depends on who's telling there side of the story. Assirati said Thesz was afraid of him. Thesz claimed he called out Assirati and he wouldn't respond. It's a tough one to call with whos telling the truth .Assiarati was well known to like hurting people and not following script that with his...

    Kettlebell swing handshake grip?

Hopefully somebody can give me some insight. Sometime back when i was learning to do one arm kettle bell swings, I seen a video with a russian guy stating how though this is the opposite of what is taught, the real proper way of a one arm swing is with a vertical type handshake grip, and not the...

The resurgence of interest in Bareknuckle boxing and its place in Modern times.

It's from a short lived show about an alchoholic and sometimes suicidal crow on Adult Swim called the Drinky Crow show. I also agree that Londo Prize fighting rules would make it more interesting and help separate it.

The resurgence of interest in Bareknuckle boxing and its place in Modern times.

I'm interested to hear from boxing fans if they think there is a place for bareknucke boxing (not bkb) with it's recent resurgence in popularity in modern times to thrive and succeed? I'm not necessarily meaning that it will rise to the level of modern boxing or even MMA. But to the point...

Any savateur on here that can give some insight? I know its not exclusive to Savate but its its pretty standard move for them. Almost ever video I ever seem them use it in sparring or matches they target the leg with the "chasse bas". Plus they do it while wearing shoes. I figured if anybody...

What are Catch Wrestlers like off their backs?

I don't think that match is a good example as catch wrestler off hisback. That was 15 years ago in 2000 and Josh started training with with Billy Robinson and Catch until 2003.
