    Jiu-Jitsu in Bareknuckle fighting.

Gloved MMA under unified rules is terrible for grapplers. Cuts are more common, but broken hands happen pretty close to equal in both gloved and Bareknuckle mma. Hands get minor injuries and pain more from people throwing wrecklessly with poor technique in BK, which makes the striking more...

    belt "rank"

Lots of people care. I personally don’t think BJJ should seperate divisions by belt, but there is no question that the belt system is a huge part of why BJJ is so successful as a martial art. Tons of people that would have otherwise quit or never started, not only start, but even eventually get...

How would train someone with zero experience???

Talk them out of it. If there is no choice I would focus completely on the ability to control distance, keep a balanced stance, tight active guard and be defensively responsible, stop takedowns, stand back up off the ground, get on top, and utilize the clinch effectively to stall by doing the...

I did a bareknuckle fight last week and…

Pretty much everything I expected could happen, happened in two minutes Every little shot my opponent landed cut me open, and he broke his hand doing it. On the ground though there were no gloves to trap and hang on to and slow down the ground game. I think BKMMA is going to lead to much more...

    Jiu-Jitsu in Bareknuckle fighting.

Ive seen it. I prefer Gamebred BKMMA for a umber of reasons, but mainly it’s that I think King of the Streets isn’t going to last because of the hard surface. People die all the time in street fights from second impact syndrome due to getting KO’d on a hard surface. I actually fought on Gamebred...

    Jiu-Jitsu in Bareknuckle fighting.

Most of the Bareknuckle fights we have been able to see are either really old, or just stand up in recent years, but with Gamebred getting bareknuckle MMA on the scene again recently I got excited about the possibilities of growth in groundfighting and grappling tactics. People tend to...

    belt "rank"

Same rank IMO. Competition can help you improve quicker, but if they’re rolling at the same level in the gym together than same rank.

Time Flies Clock Choke Set Up

are you saying that if you just used all your strength you could easily beat all your training partners without having to use technique? If so, Do your training partners know you feel this way? Would they agree? It seems you might have developed an unhealthy mindset.

    Why aren't there wrestling gyms?

For sure culture plays a role, but BJJ isn’t hard. How many sports can you literally lay down in the beginning and still win consistently? It’s the only thing on your list most adults spend their money on to learn for themselves consistently as a beginner. Haha. There are some people that will...

BJJ needs reform or it will lose relevance in MMA

Correct, and many rides common to folkstyle wrestling that are left unexplored in BJJ are far better still, but to clarify In unified rules passing to side control is not very useful. in organizations like One that use different rules it can be much much more beneficial. I have a guy in the One...

    Imposter Syndrom and switching gyms

I think just sitting down with the coach at the new place and telling them this is the best thing to do. Your situation isn’t your fault and I think your decision is very understandable.

    Deblass and Keenan

I think everyone likes details better, but that doesn’t necessarily make them better for development. Also details is kind of a blanket term. I’m not talking about macro details. I think it’s very important to explain how something can work, what the goal is, and some broad strokes, but the...

    Outside Toe Hold

I honestly never found a place for this in my game. From my personal experience all the positions where it could work better there are stronger options, but it can be done effectively from 50/50 and I’ve used it there a bit with some success. There are some times where heel hooks are illegal...

Does anyone remember a grappling training device like a ball with a bunch of handles/appendages?

that was why I got one, but then I found instead of being able to do grappling dummy and stability ball stuff I could do like 25% of each. Honestly I probably still have it somewhere. Trying to think of where now.

    Deblass and Keenan

yeah, I actually got my black belt from Daniel Moraes. I trained with Phil a couple times also and he is excellent. I’m honestly very big on ecological dynamics these days as far as teaching and learning goes. I’ve found teaching too many details has a detrimental impact in the long term.

Does anyone remember a grappling training device like a ball with a bunch of handles/appendages?

I had one. I think I lost it in hurricane Zeta, but it wasn’t a major loss. It was kind of cool, but I honestly prefer a regular stability ball.
