Well... pure strength as in: what can you lift? Tends to increase with age (if you train for it)... but then again speed tends to decline with age. That combined makes that most fighters kinda stay the same.
And that really only goes for HW's or fighters who go up in weightclass, since more...
This. People just don't understand the bulk of bodybuilding training is heavy compound exercises. All they see is the finetuning leading to a competition.
And for the record: I focus on powerlifting / strongman.. so not biased at all, just stating what i see in the gym.
Just saying it isnt an isolation exercise... and for sure bench pressing is functional... pushing someone off you for example, or anything that requires pushing for that matter.
Ah ok so in this case we are talking about functional strength as in: grappling strength. Yes in that case without a doubt.

Agreed, but i think we for the bully part covered now, this is more just teaching my kid how to fight. Hé is not agressive at all so i have No concerns he will become a bully himself or starting fights :)
Yes hè already understands counters, but his focus is still with striking himself... at 6 its kinda hard to learn deeper principles of fighting. I want to motivate him to solely focus on defence for a while.
