Loved that fight. Got to be honest, I thought Garbrandt would be a star, but it was more like shooting star. He didn't play defense enough, got cracked and was never the same guy who made Cruz look like a bum.
There was a time when Ronda Rousey was the best fighter in Women's MMA. In the context of her entire career she was clearly not the best ever. She overestimated her striking and got KO'd by Holly Holmes where she lost her confidence / mojo. Then she literally got fed to the lions when she...
Ferguson is a LW (155) and Nick Diaz has been fighting at MW (185) since 2015 although that is a sample size of only two fights (Silva and Lawler). So giving Nick Diaz a two weight class advantage certainly makes it a more winnable fight for Diaz...but not very fair to Tony.
1) Given that Nick quit in the cage vs. Robbie and was very rusty before he quit, its not like the UFC would be super interested in a Nick Diaz fight. Perhaps a bare knuckle fight vs. another old washed up fighter would be doable. 2) You do realize that heavy bags don't punch back??? Not the...
Nobody forced McGregor to not defend the belt he won in 2016. He decided to avoid contenders and defend the belt, so he got stripped of the belt. He eventually fought Khabib in 2018 for Khabib's belt and got smoked. Came back in 2020 and beat in Cerrone in a quick TKO and lost to Dustin...
I would like to see Chandler mix up the striking and the wrestling. Make McGregor work for a round, then watch him gas and get choked out or GnP finished. I am so tired of the McGregor circus show. The guy hasn't won a fight in his true weight class (LW) since 2016. That last win at LW was...
GSP was so technical, so versatile and so athletic back in his prime. His ability to close the distance in a split second is remarkable and it made Hughes uncomfortable and unable to execute his game plan. GSP is definitely the top WW of all-time. No one even comes close.
Nate Diaz is two or three levels below Cormier in terms of MMA career success.
* Double Weight Class Champion (DC)
* Champion
* Elite Contender
* Marginal or Fringe Contender - Top 10 (Nate)
I generally like Rogan, but he is 100% wrong here.
Woodley was an active veteran when GSP was fighting and Woodley was generally unable to crack the Top 5 while GSP was champ. In fact, GSP's young training partner Rory MacDonald dominated Woodley 30-27 30-27 30-27 in a one sided UD shortly...
Masvidal is done as an MMA fighter and looks to be transitioning towards a competitive food eating career...He looks to be already in serious training with lots of heavy eating...
Chandler has a long and violent bio, so taking a little time off to heal as an older fighter waiting for a big payday fight isn't a bad idea. Better than being active red meat for the young lions coming up the rankings and diminishing your brand.
Jones had a really long streak as he didn't lose to Hamill. He destroyed Hammill. However, Jones was gifted the decision win over Reyes. So using my eyeball metrics Jones won 27 straight fights including the KO win over Cormier that was later changed to NC before he lost to Reyes. Many of...
I want for McGregor to come back so some deserving LW fighters can get a big payday and beat the snot out of him. Then McGregor will reach into his book of excuses and pull out gems like "I was inefficient with my energy", "he was three times bigger than me", "I wasn't expecting calf kicks", etc.
http://mmadecisions.com/decision/12163/T.J.-Dillashaw-vs-Cory-Sandhagen
I had Sandhagen winning as did most of the media outlets (17-6). There is a reason why Dillashaw was busted up and limping that night. Sandhagen was landing clean shots that hit square snapping Dillashaw's head back...
Strickland by UD. I think his basic boxing fundamentals at a very high level work yet again. I think people underestimate Sean because he isn't knocking people out. However, he is controlling the fight and the distance. Sean is landing often and not getting hit much, which is a tremendous...
