I love Sambo but I go in with a Judo background and beat 90% of their guys no problem.
Kashiwazaki & Sato also entered the Sambo worlds and picked up gold, although Kashiwazaki in particular is one of the best judokas ever IMO.
Judo is a more popular sport and therefore the talent pool is deeper.
I think there's some shitty rule where they only give hansoku make if it's an intentional head dive, whatever that is.
I've definitely seen DQ's for head dives but, at the same time, Travis Stevens got a really nice uchi mata where he ended up head diving and giving himself concussion...
I disagree, whenever people ask what I train in and I say Judo, BJJ & Sambo, 99% of the time the only one they've ever heard of is judo.
Obviously the MMA fans know BJJ but as far casuals and girls etc, it's always only Judo they've heard of.
