    Dana hypocrisy

How can Dana blow up about the decision but give the fight 'fight of the night' which is historically given to super close back and forth fights?? If it was such a dominant performance it seems odd that it was given that bonus which could have easily gone to lawler vs Rory IMO

Judo better than BJJ for street self defense?

If you have practiced throws to any degree it shouldn't matter. Untrained people go down easy

    Night shift

Yeah I guess it will take some playing about with to see what works and what doesn't. Aslong as I'm sleeping enough and eating right and staying fit it shouldn't have a major impact on me correct? I generally am a night owl anyway and stay up pretty late so guess its down to the individual...

    Night shift

Hey guys, I am starting to do nights at work now, only nights. So any advice on what to eat? I will do my gym routine and judo before I go to work and eat when I get in home from work and go to bed. My hours will be 11pm to 7am so will get to bed around 8am (half hour drive to work)...

Hey guys i'm from the UK but will be going to visit Vegas in a week or so and thought why not have a training session whilst there? girlfriend doesn't seem to happy tho haha ! I know my school over here doesn't have a problem with people just hopping in for the odd session but I don't really...

    Maintaining back control

Cheers guys, I think the problem is me going for the choke instantly and getting my balance offset by my own inability to be patient and get full control. I also don't think im getting close enough to the guy as mentioned in the first couple of replies, I have judo tonight so hopefully will...

    Maintaining back control

I'm having issues which are bothering me Even when I get my hooks in I still always slide off their back so they end up in my guard, its bugging me if I don't get a quick choke I slide off usually. Any thoughts? body triangle perhaps? just im quite small so most of the time its not an...

How much did Judo help your bjj?

Bent over posture = uchi mata. Also double legs are insanely hard to get against someone with a gi on especially when they have their grips in.

How to not defend the armbar - My matches from comp yesterday

Hate seeing what the guy did in video number 1, really ridiculous not even to engage standing.

White Belt With Better Technique Than A Brown Belt

You're never gonna pick up everything all the time even if you are a brown belt. I think you're being harsh on yourself, some people just pick things up easier sometimes. Last week I couldn't do this sweep from turtle for the life of me, I'll come back to it sometime in the future. A good...

Judo once a week and Bjj 2-3 ?? good mix

There won't be any cons imo from doing both bjj and judo. Unless you want to compete in either in a big way I think judo is more helpful to bjj than bjj is to judo in todays sport rules.

    We need a judo thread.

There are kyu grade competitions that stop the dans playing to promote people to compete at an easier level. These are usually 2nd Kyu and under so blue belts could fight a white belt, still quite rank discrepancy. The thing in my mind is that in judo you're not really at a belt for really...

Tell me some good things about Judo.

Pros and cons in what respect?? Good for self defence, instils discipline, great work out, something active you can also do with a child. Umm cons, quite injury prone, although it has its place in mma you have to be very good to utilize it effectivly (which isn't always a bad thing) some...

how much time a week to maintain judo.

I think its a case of building up slowly over time. I started with just one mma class a week, which at the time was sufficient I felt. I then added 3 days at the gym lifting weights and slowly right now I'm at 4x gym lifting, 2x judo, 1xBJJ/MMA 1x Sombo/MMA ... I also listen to my body, if I...

I'm sure this is obvious to many, but... why is newaza so rare in judo matches?

As long as you're activley working and progressing on the ground it won't be stood up, but as mentioned people will just turtle which makes it difficult for progress which makes the refs call 'matte'

    We need a judo thread.

The part about not completing the throw and just working on entry is something pretty common in judo, I mean if someone were to be thrown constantly it would be more demanding on the body and is also quite time consuming. Working on different parts of entry is also another aspect of it, I...
